In Fall 2020, after 15 years, the Founder and Lead Pastor of CityChurch Charlotte, Al Hardy, announced his decision to move on from his role, effective May 23rd, 2021. We are asking God to help us find our next lead Lead Pastor, someone with the right gifts and qualifications for our needs, and the cultural and theological fit for our DNA. ABOUT OUR CHURCH
CityChurch is located in Plaza Midwood, a thriving and fast growing part of Charlotte, NC. Pre-Covid, our Sunday attendance was around 250. Our diverse church family is made up of people from different church backgrounds, including many people with no church background, as well as a range of age groups and an emphasis on young adults and families with young children.
We are grace led and strive to combine a commitment to Bible-centered teaching with an openness to the work and gifts of the Holy Spirit. We describe ourselves as being ‘Real, Relational and Religion Free’ and focus on welcoming all types of people to meet God in an authentic way, helping them to get involved with our church and grow in faith. We have established many connections in the local community and we are well positioned and excited about the possibilities for further growth in the coming years. PRIMARY LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CANDIDATE
We are looking for a leader who has an authentic relationship with Jesus, a shepherd of shepherds, providing loving, approachable and non-condemning leadership; a servant leader who surrenders to the will of God. They must be a clear, dynamic and effective communicator, able to preach the Gospel using non-religious language, who can lead and teach on the ministry of the Holy Spirit and is comfortable empowering others to do the same. They should demonstrate high leadership capacity, striving to live their lives above reproach, and if married, living out a healthy marriage. They have a shepherd’s heart for the least and the lost and a passion for leading people to faith. We want to find someone who takes the mission seriously, but who can have fun and has a good sense of humor; who is relatable and not fearful of being vulnerable and can embrace CityChurch’s values, beliefs and vision, promoting the concept of a religion-free church.
