Job Description

POSITION: Director of Traditional Music and Worship

                                   

REPORTS TO: Directing Pastor

 

POSITION PURPOSE: To make disciples of Jesus Christ through dynamic traditional music ministry.

 

POSITION STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt    

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·        Master’s degree in music or associated field preferred.

·        Minimum three years of employment in a church setting preferred.

·        Knowledge of traditional and newer hymnody.

·        Familiarity with music arranging software.

·        Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, internet, and social media resources.

  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills in relating to members and diverse community.

·        Ability to effectively supervise others and demonstrate positive accountability to those in authority.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

·        Commitment to work in close, supportive, and collegial ways with pastoral leadership and staff.

 

POSITION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 

·        Implement and lead overall music series of traditional and special worship services.

·        Plan, lead, direct choral, handbell, and brass ensemble(s) with varying ages.

·        Plan, lead, and coordinate service music rotation.

·        Recruit, lead, and coordinate volunteer musicians, ushers, and communion stewards.

·        Supervise the Organist and Instrumental Directors.

·        Teach and coach volunteers of various ages and musical abilities.

·        Create and manage overall Traditional Worship and Music budget.

·        Connect with outside music organizations and schools to build partnerships.

·        Oversee maintenance and tracking of music, instruments, and other related ministry property.


POSITION ANCILLARY DUTIES:

 

·        Participate in regular team staff meetings and Sunday leadership activities.

·        Attend staff, worship, and church council meetings as assigned.

·        Present at all Christmas and Easter Worship services and designated events.
