Job Description

The position of Pastor of Children and Family Ministry is responsible for leading and supervising all ministry teams for the children (ROCK) and their families at Cornerstone. This position is responsible for working in conjunction with Cornerstone’s Elders, Staff and ROCK Core Team to create a vibrant ministry strategy that will join the Holy Spirit’s activity while coming alongside families to make passionate followers of Christ, cultivating their faith and wonder in God. This position entails planning, organizing and overseeing all ROCK ministries including Sunday School, Nursery and seasonal ROCK Events as well as providing supervision and oversight for the Children’s Ministry Administrator.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • A strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ as evidenced by spiritual, relational, and emotional maturity and stability.
  • A bachelors and/or master’s degree from an accredited Bible college, university, seminary, or equivalent, with specific training in children’s pastoral ministry.
  • Proven competence and skill in children and family ministry, including recruiting, organizing and spiritually developing volunteer and leadership teams.
  • Strong conflict management and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, independent worker with the leadership skills necessary to engage and lead teams.
  • Desire to minister in a multi-ethnic church community.
  • Demonstrate skill and understanding in the use of various technologies: Planning Center, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Adobe Photoshop, etc.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership Over ROCK

  • Have comprehensive knowledge, agreement, and adherence to the vision and mission of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship for implementation in ROCK Ministry.
  • Provide pastoral care, guidance, leadership, and support for all ROCK volunteers, children, parents, and families at Cornerstone in their ongoing faith and spiritual development.
  • Recruit, organize, train, and lead ROCK core team, teachers, helpers, and coordinators.
  • Oversee age-appropriate Sunday School classes and various gatherings (i.e. Harvest Fest, events, Holiday programs, etc.)
  • Develop or review curriculum for all ROCK classes.
  • Oversee all new ROCK volunteer interviews, background checks, and training.
  • Develop an active outreach ministry strategy to preschoolers, elementary children and their families.
  • Ensure ROCK programming is executed in each gathering in accordance with established curriculum, classroom procedures, and child safety policies.
  • Keep current in children and family ministry trends that are spiritually enriching and dynamic.
  • Direct and oversee communication to parents and families about upcoming ROCK events.
  • Organize childcare for All-Church Cornerstone events, where appropriate.

Leadership Over Families

  • Equip, support, and train parents in strengthening their marriage and discipling their children.
  • Provide supplementary resources (books, videos, conferences, etc.) to parents in strengthening their marriage and discipling their children.

General Leadership

  • Manage finances allocated for Foundation ministries with wisdom and discretion, consistently demonstrating prudence and unimpeachable integrity.
  • Work collaboratively with other Cornerstone ministry departments.
  • Attend all Staff Meetings, All-Church Events.
  • Handle confidential matters with responsibility, discretion, integrity, and maturity.
  • Develop and maintain a positive, healthy “team spirit” and relationship with staff, recognizing and valuing each person and each role.
  • Live an exemplary personal life of spiritual devotion and leadership that is in harmony with clear Biblical standards.
  • Cultivate and maintain a pastoral relationship with Cornerstone families.
  • Participate actively in the community life of Cornerstone.

SUPERVISION

  • Supervise/oversee the part-time Children’s Ministry Administrator who will be largely responsible for day to day logistics, resourcing and inventory management for all ROCK classes and events.
  • The Pastor of Children and Family will report directly to the Lead Pastor and is ultimately accountable to the Elder Team.
