YOUTH PASTOR - Part Time (18–20 hours/week) Salaried

The Youth Pastor reports directly to the Lead Pastor


The Youth Pastor will develop and implement ministry engagement opportunities for middle and high school students (grades 6-12) and their families. This position ensures the mission and vision of Indian Land Community Church is pursued through activities that focus on knowing Christ, growing in relationship with Him and others, living a life of generosity, and sharing the gospel where we live, learn, work, and play (Know || Grow || Give || Go).


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Create and execute student ministry plans that include weekly gathering opportunities, trips/camps, mission projects, and routine special events that are well-balanced and promote the mission and vision of ILCC.
  • Model everyday Christianity through teaching, discipling, generosity, and weekly engagements.
  • Identify, recruit, train, encourage, and celebrate volunteer leaders.
  • Gather and share resources for parent/family support and discipleship in the home.
  • Assist in the transition process for 5th graders to middle school and 8th graders to high school.
  • Create consistent (time/place) environments for students that foster biblical community and biblical spiritual growth. 
  • Train students as disciples of Christ to know Him, grow in relationship with Him and other Christians, give of their time, talents, and treasure, and reach out to those who don’t know Him.
  • Connect and engage with students through on-campus and extracurricular involvement at area schools like school lunch visits, participation in on-campus ministries, and attendance at games and other activities.
  • Be available for student engagement outside of school hours.
  • Create strategic follow up plan for new and absentee students.
  • Coordinate and lead all student ministry trips; Middle School Camp/Retreat, High School Camp/Retreat, and MissionTrip/Project(s). (Min of 1 each for each age group annually)
  • Promote and maintain student ministry social media channels.
  • Coordinate, lead or assist in new believer discipleship.
  • Assist in the development and oversight of annual youth ministry budget.
  • Function as a member of the ILCC ministerial staff and faith family: participate in weekly staff meetings, help serve in baptism interviews and services, hospital or home visits, funeral support, counseling sessions with students or families, teach or lead Bible studies, preach in main worship service as part of the teaching team rotation, and actively participate in an adult small group for personal spiritual growth.


QUALIFICATIONS & ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Exhibits a growing and vibrant relationship with Jesus; demonstrates a call to Christian ministry.
  • Displays a passion for and ability in connecting with students and parents.
  • Ability to effectively and accurately communicate Scripture that can be easily applied to life.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized leader with a strong work ethic.
  • An attitude of teamwork, flexibility, and adaptability. 
  • Prior experience leading and organizing students in a ministry setting preferred. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree (theological/ministry education preferred / in process / willingness to pursue such education/training).
