OVERVIEW

The Family Ministry Director at the Loring Park campus is responsible for all aspects of children and student ministry and programming. Through strong leadership, volunteer development and relational strengths, this individual will oversee the growth and effectiveness of the church’s ministry to youth in Minneapolis – from birth through senior high. Due to the urban context, this individual will be responsible for identifying and implementing an effective approach to reaching and discipling a diverse community of children, students and their families. This role involves building new relationships within the community and school district, along with building bridges and partnerships with other Christ-centered ministries and programs that are already at work within the city.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the Woods Kids children’s program (birth-4th grade) at the Loring Park campus, utilizing centralized resources and content for programming.
  • Teach Woods Kids lessons for online programming 2x per month.
  • Lead weekly programs and events that effectively engage 5th-12th grade students and align with Wooddale’s vision for next gen ministry at the Loring Park campus.
  • Lead a growing team of volunteers by casting vision, recruiting and training them to disciple students.
  • Be an active participant at Loring Park worship services and events to connect with children, students and their families.
  • Meet regularly with Wooddale’s Family Ministry Team to collaborate and coordinate programming across campuses to maintain a shared vision, mission and strategies as one church in multiple locations.
  • Build relationships with youth and families during the week through contact work, attending sporting/school events, etc.
  • Plan outreach events which build bridges into the community in order to connect with more families to grow the ministry.
  • Develop community relationships with schools and other effective Christian organizations which help to grow and deepen the ministry at the Loring Park campus.
  • Join with the other Loring Park campus staff in participating in regular staff meetings and campus initiatives/events.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of relevant ministry and leadership experience within an urban context
  • Evidence of a thriving relationship with Jesus Christ which exhibits making more disciples.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, build and lead teams of volunteers.
  • Strong upfront and interpersonal communication skills with ability to relate to children/students/families of various ages and backgrounds.
  • Ability to integrate youth ministry into the overall campus life and ministries.
  • Subscribe to and affirm the Statement of Faith and Covenant of Wooddale Church.
  • Be a regular participant in public worship at Wooddale Church and remain a member in good standing.

 

RELATIONSHIPS 

  • Reports directly to the Loring Park Campus Pastor, with a dotted line relationship to Wooddale’s Pastor of Next Gen and Family Ministries.
  • Works with Loring Park campus staff and student ministry teams from other campuses.

 

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK & TRAVEL

This position is part-time, up to 20 hours per week. Certain occasions (holiday services, outreach events, etc.) require long hours and weekend work and the ability to travel to all campuses and off-site meetings, as needed.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job primarily operates in an office setting and will include using standard office equipment. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear and frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and reach with hands and arms. This jobs also requires the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, repetitive bending, stretching and stooping, climb up and down stairs, have mobility required to ensure the safety of children and students, work with children on the floor, work outdoors and perform light cleaning. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
