Next Generation Pastor

“That the next generation might know”—that’s the language of Psalm 78:6 as God’s Word describes the importance of reaching and teaching young people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. That’s what the position of Next Generation Pastor is all about.

• This is a full-time position with an annual salary + phone + the availability of parsonage.

• This position reports to the Senior Pastor.

• This position has three main areas of responsibility:

• Youth Ministry (60% of time): To be directly responsible for a comprehensive youth ministry for students grades 6 through 12. This involves a weekly youth worship service, maintaining and promoting the youth ministry calendar, and coordinating with youth ministry volunteers. It is also expected that the Next Generation Pastor will make sure to provide special opportunities for discipleship and fellowship experiences such as summer and winter trips or events like a Disciple Now weekend. The Next Generation Pastor should aim to have some sort of a presence on the campus of our local middle and high schools. It is also highly encouraged that the youth ministry calendar includes occasional gatherings on Sunday nights after church as well ask some other fun, spiritually edifying activity roughly once a month.

• Children’s Ministry (25% of time): To give oversight to our children’s ministry for students in kindergarten through the 5th grade. Examples of such ministries include, but are not limited to, Sunday School, AWANA, occasional events such as VBS, Fall Festival, and other short-term, seasonal programming. The Next Generation Pastor will work with a team of volunteers in these areas to cast vision, provide ministry coordination, offer resources, and serve as the point person between our children’s ministry and our church staff and office.

• Associate Pastor Ministry (15% of time): To be an associate pastor to the church at large by assisting the Senior Pastor, other members of the church staff, and the church in general with whatever needs present themselves from time to time. It is expected that the Next Generation Pastor will help with pastoral care to the larger church body as well as with preaching and teaching during Sunday worship services.
