About the Role:

The Youth Pastor at Gateway Church will seek to glorify God by leading efforts to develop, coordinate, direct, and oversee all Student Ministry programs, activities, and events. The Youth Pastor will recruit, develop, equip, and support volunteer leaders and workers who assist with the Student Ministry functions. The Student Ministry team invests in and and participates in the spiritual growth and development of students at the middle school and high school levels.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Religion or Religious Studies, enrollment in such a degree program, or significant coursework in religious studies preferred
  • Experience serving on a Student or Youth Ministry team preferred
  • Demonstrated servant leadership abilities
  • Strong relational skills that will foster connections with students, parents, volunteers, and other Gateway Church staff
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Strong technology and organizational skills
  • Ability to protect sensitive and confidential information


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, disciple, and support the Student Ministry leaders, meeting regularly to discuss vision, strategy, and execution.
  • Build relationships with students, teaching them the Word of God. Model for the students what a disciple of Christ looks like. Integrate students into the whole body of Gateway Church.
  • invite students in the community to participate in the ministry.
  • Build relationships and partner with the students’ parents.
  • Plan, organize, and execute all Student Ministry programs, events, and activities.
  • Oversee the Student Ministry budget.
  • Provide oversight of Student Ministry social media pages and other communications.
  • Connect with other Youth Pastors in the area.
  • Participate in other pastoral responsibilities, such as visitations, weddings, funerals, and pastoral counseling; attend pastoral staff meetings; and attend Student Ministry team leader meetings.


Other Details:

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), salaried exempt position. Besides base compensation, the position includes health insurance; paid time off, including vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay; retirement plan contributions; tuition reimbursement; and a mobile phone allowance.
