Ministry Purpose
To serve God and the church by developing, coordinating and carrying out a comprehensive and
expanding Christ centered ministry to students (7th-12th grade) and their families. Provide
competent leadership and supervision to all student ministry employees and leaders.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Provide overall vision for the student ministry
Supervise weekly student ministry services and events. Ensure all student ministries are
prepared and staffed with leaders and team members.
Recruit, motivate and train volunteers. Recommend team members to other areas of
ministry when appropriate.
Recruit and maintain student ministry teams. Set them up to succeed.
Meet regularly with student ministry leaders and assist where needed.
Plan age appropriate outside and weekend events such as outreach focused, community
ministry, and special events to accomplish fellowship, evangelism, and spiritual growth.
Oversee the student ministry budget
Maintain an inventory of necessary equipment and supplies for effective ministry
Serve as a spiritual role model. Model healthy church and family life by maintaining
appropriate spiritual discipline and balance in personal, family, work and community life.
Work with the children’s minister and (if applicable) the college young adult minister, to
ensure a smooth transition for students in 6th and 12 grade.
Be active in mentoring upcoming leaders
Be willing and able to give the message or teach one to two times per year on Sunday
morning
