Role Overview

The Director of Worship Ministries provides visionary and hands-on leadership for all aspects of the church’s worship life. This role exists to cultivate meaningful, Spirit-led worship experiences where people encounter God’s presence, feel connected to the church community, and grow in faith. The Director will oversee worship planning, team development, production, and creative elements that shape the overall worship experience.


Key Responsibilities

Worship Leadership & Planning

  • Lead Sunday services and special events with excellence, passion, and theological depth.
  • Plan and coordinate worship elements—music, readings, liturgy, visuals—in collaboration with pastors and ministry leaders.
  • Create cohesive, engaging service flow that fosters authentic worship.
  • Oversee technical elements including sound, lighting, livestream, and media.

Team Development & Supervision

  • Recruit, audition, train, and shepherd worship leaders, musicians, vocalists, and tech volunteers.
  • Build a spiritually healthy, unified team culture centered on discipleship and community.
  • Mentor and develop emerging leaders and volunteers.
  • Organize rehearsals, team meetings, and spiritual formation gatherings.

Ministry Strategy & Administration

  • Collaborate with pastoral and creative staff to align worship ministry goals with the church’s mission and teaching calendar.
  • Plan and execute special worship experiences (worship nights, seasonal services, conferences).
  • Manage scheduling, communication, and volunteer systems using Planning Center and related tools.
  • Contribute actively to the broader ministry leadership team and weekly staff meetings.

Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement feedback systems to assess and improve worship experiences.
  • Stay current with worship trends, technology, and best practices.
  • Manage annual music and equipment budget responsibly.
