Position Summary

CBC is seeking a Lead Pastor who is a spiritually mature prayer warrior and proven leader that has a passionate love for God, His Church and reaching the world for Jesus Christ. He must be a creative preacher/teacher with a demonstrated ability to connect people (who represent a broad diversity along ethnic, socio-economic and generational lines) with Christ and the church. As a co-shepherd with the Elders and key staff, he will oversee the direction and life of the church, equipping the staff and church family to be mature and complete in Christ.


Responsibilities:

The Lead Pastor shall be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Guards and champions the Church’s mission, vision and values.
  • Serve as the spiritual under-shepherd of the congregation that models Christ-likeness in his personal, family and corporate life. Demonstrates a discipleship relationship with the church family and staff.
  • Leads in the development, communication, and implementation of a clear vision for CBC.
  • Partners with the Board of Elders, staff, and ministry leaders in recruiting and equipping the congregation to fulfill the church’s mission and vision.
  • Leads in development and implementation of a strategy to reach local, regional, national and the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • Leads the Preaching Team that feeds a broad spectrum of people’s spiritual maturity. Preaches and teaches the full counsel of God’s Word including the Gospel of Jesus Christ that points everyone in taking their next step towards spiritual maturity in Him.
  • Provides primary pulpit supply during Sunday services and other special events as needed (i.e. funerals and weddings).
  • Serves on and in accountability to the Board of Elders.
  • Head of staff who will collaborate with the Executive Pastor on how to motivate staff and lay leaders towards personal, professional, and spiritual excellence.
  • Ensure proper implementation of Church policies set forth by the Board of Elders. 


Candidate Profile:

The Lead Pastor shall demonstrate:

  • A clear testimony of a saving faith in Jesus Christ and a vibrant, growing relationship with Him.
  • Biblical qualifications of a pastor as seen in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4.
  • Experience as a gifted preacher and teacher of Scripture. Knows how to discern and deliver biblical truth in a culturally relevant way that points people to a vibrant walk with Christ.
  • A proven experience in lifestyle evangelism and disciple-making.
  • Theologically trained from a biblical institute or accredited seminary (Graduate degree preferred).
  • Five+ years as a pastoral lead of a 500+ size congregation.
  • Experience in leading a multi-ministry staff and cultivation of teams in a diverse environment.
  • Agreement with CBC’s Statement of Faith.
