Student Minister
Rollingbrook Fellowship, Baytown’s First Baptist Church is seeking an energetic, passionate, relational and experienced individual who will be responsible for the Student Ministry (Grades 6-12). This candidate will be a Spirit-led follower of Jesus Christ with a passion for Students and a clear calling to our church.
Rollingbrook Fellowship, Baytown’s First Baptist Church is a multi-generational church that serves a multi-high school and multi-cultural community in the Baytown/Mont Belvieu area.
We expect the successful candidate to be able to build and mentor a team of volunteers to fulfill the mission of the ministry. This candidate must have evidence of a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ through spiritual disciplines and regular church attendance. They must exhibit a teachable spirit, and a healthy family life. A qualified candidate will have demonstrated experience in building a biblically dynamic, thriving, and vibrant student ministry.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University with focus area applicable to this role (i.e. Christian studies, Youth Ministry etc).
- Student Ministry experience at the level where the individual has oversight for weekly student discipleship and programming. A minimum of 3 years is highly preferred.
- Team player, good interpersonal skills, strong teaching ability, strong organizational skills, creativity, a willingness to learn, and self-motivated.
- Gifted leadership with the ability to recruit and encourage others who serve in the ministry.
- Demonstrated ability to build a multi-faceted Student Ministry.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead Bible study and Christian discipleship activities for youth, including weekly studies, Disciple Now, youth camp, mission trips and other similar events. Emphasis should be placed on the understanding and application of evangelism, worship, missions, discipleship, service and fellowship.
- Provide programs and be a spiritual resource/guide to equip parents to fulfill their responsibilities for the spiritual formation of their students. Communicate programs, events, and special dates to engage students and their parents.
- Develop and disciple a group of student leaders.
- Recruit, train, equip and develop workers/volunteers and mentor them for service in the Student Ministry.
- Maintain consistent contact with Rollingbrook students as well as guests through various communication outlets as well as being a visible presence at schools and events.
- Prepare and provide regular oversight to an annual budget for the student ministry program, and adhere to financial policies established by the church.
- Assist in preparing special publications related to the ministry to students.
- Establish and maintain effective and courteous team relationships with coworkers and actively assist in the overall leadership of Rollingbrook Fellowship.
- Model behavior and family actions consistent with biblical values.
- Develop opportunities for cross-generational ministry to foster unity among the members of Rollingbrook Fellowship.
- Serve as the lead resource on youth culture and inform staff of trends and changes through input from various resources, including podcasts, web articles, conferences, etc.
- Counsel students (or adults) that express a desire to follow Jesus.
- Attend weekly Staff Meetings led by the Senior Pastor and/or the Associate Pastor.
- Attend church-wide Programming and Events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Organizational Relationships
- The Student Minister is under the supervision of the Associate Pastor.
- The Student Minister will directly supervise all volunteers within the scope of the ministry.
