Director of Music and Worship

Job Title: Director of Music

Reports to: Pastor

Status: Non-Exempt

Classification: Part Time (10-15 hours per week)

Salary: $11,000 - $18,000 annually. Based on time commitment, skill level, and

experience.

Qualification:

- Some formal training in music education or related field (bachelor’s degree

preferred).

- Experience in choral conducting/instruction, piano, and organ

-Understanding of Methodist hymnody.

-A commitment to loving and serving God and neighbor in the name of Jesus

Christ.

Responsibilities:

-Work in partnership with Pastor to create weekly worship services that edify,

encourage, and compel worshipers to grow in their Christian discipleship.

-Provide instruction and leadership to choir on Wednesday nights.

-Familiarity with a variety of styles of worship music.

-Create opportunities for worshipers of all ages and abilities to express

themselves musically. This includes leading a children’s choir and/or

programming on special Sundays such as Palm Sunday, Easter and Christmas.

-Work in partnership with Pastor to create worship opportunities for special

services including but not limited to Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, and Christmas

Eve.

-Familiarize, promote and celebrate United Methodist tradition, primarily using our

hymnal and liturgy for song selection.
