Summary

The Clergy Assistant supports the Church by performing routine clerical, secretarial and administrative work for the Pastoral Care and Christian Education ministries by effectively interacting with members and staff at all levels and efficiently managing multiple projects. He or she must be committed to the Mission and Core Values of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church.

Essential Functions

 

1.     Receive and screen incoming departmental calls, taking clear messages and returning calls as appropriate.

2.     Provide administrative support for Adult Sunday School programs and various ministries across campus (e.g. maintain calendars and send reminders; create, update and print marketing materials and programs; coordinate speakers and arrange logistics; track attendance in database and generate statistical reports; participate in quarterly program reviews, etc.)

3.     Provide administrative oversight and organization of clergy’s Daily Word devotional schedule creating and maintaining schedule, sending timely reminders and assisting with editing when possible.

4.     Support the Riverway Community by assisting the Associate Rector and the Lay Minister in developing ideas, finding resources, ordering materials, taking minutes at weekly meetings and processing expenses, among others.

5.     Represent the Associate Rector for Christian Education and Riverway in his/her absence, being able to communicate his/her mind.

6.     Attend meetings with and for the Senior Associate Rector, upon request.

7.     Provide occasional support for front-desk and phone lines as needed.

8.     Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

Education, Skills and Experience

 

-       Associate college degree and a minimum of 5 years of professional related experience.

-       Experience working in a non-for profit is ideal; church or religious institution is a plus.

-       Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn quickly new software.

-       Typing speed of 45wpm.

-       Due to the nature and context of this role, only Christian applicants will be considered.

 

Candidates selected for interviews will demonstrate mastery of listening, writing, analytical and software skills on an assessment conducted during the candidate selection process.
