Position Title: Director of Student Ministries

 

Time Requirement: Full-Time, exempt position

 

Accountability: The Director of Student Ministries reports to the Head of Staff, is accountable to the JK Students ministry team, and is ultimately accountable to the Session of the John Knox Presbyterian Church (JKPC).

 

Summary:

The Director of Student Ministries provides primary leadership and support of the overall JK Students program, which includes students grades 6-12 and their parents. This includes mid-week programing for middle and senior high school students, Sunday School for middle school, annual mission trips and camps.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·        Provide primary leadership of all JK Students programs.

·        Plan, lead, teach, and assist with small and large group Bible studies, group meetings, retreats, mission experiences, and outreach activities.

  • In collaboration with the ministry team and staff colleagues: recruit, screen, train, support, encourage, and celebrate volunteers..

·        Develop and implement an effective strategy to engage and communicate with youth and their parents/guardians.

·        Meet with youth and adults on and off site for the purpose of mentoring, discipleship, leadership development, and program planning.

  • Coordinate with other JKPC ministry leaders and teams to promote and encourage continuity in reaching families with children and youth.

·        Attend JK Students ministry team meetings, church staff meetings, supervisory meetings, and training sessions.

·        Maintain behavior that is consistent with the conduct and behavior expectations outlined in the JKPC Employee Handbook.

·        Regularly participate in corporate worship at JKPC.

·        Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Qualifications

·        Education: College degree or equivalent experience in youth ministry or a related field.

·        Work Experience: Prior experience working with youth and their families preferred.

·        Strong communicator (verbal and written) who consistently demonstrates a keen ability to work collaboratively, and effectively cultivates healthy relationships.

  • Technical competency (e.g. social media platforms, MS Office).

The annual salary range for this exempt position is $57,300 minimum to $59,850 maximum.

This position offers a full benefits package including: Medical and Dental Insurance, 403(b) saving plan with employer contribution, Life and Disability Insurance, 10 paid holidays, 10 days paid vacation, 10 days paid sick, study leave and stipend.
