Position Summary

First Baptist Church of Anoka is prayerfully seeking a visionary, gospel-centered Lead Pastor to guide our multigenerational congregation into a new season of Spirit-led mission and renewal. The Lead Pastor will serve as the primary preaching elder, spiritual shepherd, and leader of our ministry teams, equipping the church to engage our community with biblical truth and Christ-like love.

Responsibilities

• Preaching & Teaching
• Serve as the primary preacher, proclaiming God’s Word with clarity, conviction, and cultural relevance.
• Teach with gospel depth that connects with all generations, applying Scripture to everyday life.

Leadership & Oversight

• Serve as a full member of the Elder Board, providing spiritual oversight and helping define and implement the church’s vision.
• Lead, mentor, and supervise staff, cultivating a collaborative, Christ-honoring team culture.
• Oversee ministry programming and guide strategic planning in alignment with the church’s mission.

Discipleship & Shepherding

• Develop and disciple leaders, teams, and volunteers for service within and beyond the church.
• Provide pastoral care alongside the elders, fostering community and relational connection.

Community Engagement

• Be present and invested in the city of Anoka, representing FBC as a visible ambassador of hope and faith.
• Lead outreach initiatives and equip the congregation to share the gospel with neighbors, families, and the next generation.

Qualifications

• A mature and growing faith in Jesus Christ, marked by humility, integrity, and love.
• A deep commitment to the authority of Scripture and alignment with FBC Anoka’s Doctrinal Statement.
• Meets the biblical qualifications of an elder (1 Timothy 3:1–7; Titus 1:5–9).
• A pastoral heart: relational, empathetic, prayerful, and faithful in shepherding God’s people.
• A leader who casts vision, empowers others, and thrives in a team-based environment.
• Proven teaching/preaching gifts with theological depth and practical application.
• Seminary degree (M.Div. or equivalent) strongly preferred.
• Ordained or ordainable within a compatible evangelical tradition.

• Established congregation with strong intergenerational engagement and financial health.
• Active children’s ministry and strong support for local and global missions.
• Ministry priorities include outreach to young families, discipleship of youth and young adults, care for seniors, and leadership development.
