Snapshot of Mountain View Community Church
Mountain View Community Church (MVCC) was planted just over 5 years ago in Bozeman, MT, through the support of Crossway Network. Bozeman’s rapid growth, disproportionately large college population at MSU (16,700+), numerous outdoor activities, and transplants from all over the country reveals its growing need for the gospel and biblically grounded churches. Our church has grown in depth, breadth, and financial stability, thus increasing our need for shepherding care. In light of this, Mountain View is seeking a second full time pastor.
MVCC has a few hundred that call it their church home, with an average attendance of 200. Even with the fluctuations from college breaks, we often serve over 200 people on a Sunday. We meet in a basketball gym at a local Christian school, which allows for greater investment in the mission of the church. Our pastors are open to a building, should the Lord direct us in the future. The demographics of our congregation largely reflect the city. The majority of our church body is under the age of 30, and a growing number of older members. The children’s ministry serves around 42 children each week, and the high school youth group is led by highly committed volunteers. Our church desires to shape a thriving young adults/college ministry, a discipleship pipeline for our young and old, and to continue building our Missional Community ministry (currently operating 8 groups). Our church currently leads Trail Life, a ministry reaching well beyond our local congregation, as well as a thriving Backcountry Ministry, offering outdoor trips throughout the summer (including 9+ trips this year), led by in-house, trained guides.
Our Staff Culture is fun and driven, meeting weekly to debrief the things worth celebrating and our growth areas from the previous Sunday. In addition, we plan out the next two Sundays. Our team consists of a full time Worship Leader (+administration and young adults), part time Children’s Director, an unpaid part time Operations Director and the Lead Pastor. Our team prioritizes staff culture, desiring "roots before fruits". We're serious about our mission but are careful to not take ourselves too seriously. This creates a truly healthy environment where the staff is equipped to do what God has designed them to do in ministry. Our next full time college director will join this team and work closely with the Lead Pastor to continue to develop the culture of the college ministry, both on staff and within the entire body.
The vision of MVCC is only becoming more clear as the pastor team is prayerfully developing a 10-year vision to present to the church. Our church exists to introduce people to Jesus Christ and help them grow as his followers. We have a deep desire for both evangelism and discipleship as we want to see every person in Bozeman know Jesus, grow as his follower, and go plant churches regionally and globally for the glory of God. This growing hope to plant more churches may one day be accomplished by the everyday student who graduates and seeks work in a new city with the strategy to join the mission of the next church planting team in the Mountain Pacific region and beyond. MVCC is committed to boldly pursuing church planting and acting as a future hub of support for churches in the Mountain Pacific Region and beyond.
