Title: Pastor/Director of Youth and Communications

Reports To: Lead Pastor

Salary: TBD based on experience

Benefits: Full medical, dental and vision for entire family (if applicable); Vacation time; Matching 403(b). Sabbatical program for pastoral staff.

Hours: Full-time, 40-50 hours per week

Anticipated hire date: May 1, 2021


Role Summary: The Director of Youth and Communications will lead and be responsible for all things related to youth (6th — 12th grade students) and church-wide communications. He/she should be a Jesus follower and a Kingdom builder. They should have a heart for people, especially youth. They should be organized and have a “get it done, no matter what” mentality. They know that leading in an effective church means equipping people for the work of ministry. They will have the ability, know-how and experience for recruiting, building and sustaining healthy volunteer teams. They should be a team player and offer their time and talent to see the whole staff team thrive.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all areas related to youth (6th-12th grade): events, curriculum, worship, teaching, and ongoing discipleship.
  • Encourage and equip parents to disciple their own children.
  • Build and develop a volunteer team of leaders who love youth and invest in the spiritual lives of youth in the church.
  • Oversee all social media and communication for the entire church. In many ways, this position is the “voice” of the church throughout the week.
  • Create and execute print and digital designs in an organized, thoughtful, and creative manner.
  • Manage and maintain the website and online presence. 
  • Partner with staff to develop creative content for each ministry.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher preferred but not required.
  • Meets the character qualifications of 1 Timothy 3:1-13.
  • Philosophical and theological alignment with TCC.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in basic graphic design and social media platforms.
  • Working knowledge of video, photography, and file storage.

  • Stay humble. God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Leading a church is difficult enough. We don’t need God’s opposition, too. 
  • Work hard, sabbath harder. Make sure your job is done and done well. But also make sure you are caring for yourself mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally, etc. Pick a day. Disconnect. Enjoy time with your family, worship, and rest.
  • Serve people, not programs. Don’t lose sight of the fact that the church is people. Meet with people. Spend time with people. Pray for people. If you are too busy to care for people, you are too busy. Don’t fall into the trap of running a “church”.   
  • Pursue excellent simplicity. Simplicity is difficult. Simplicity with excellence is nearly impossible. Everyone and everything will try to make the church more complex. Resist. Pursue excellence in ministry, and keep it simple. 
  • Avoid silos. We are on the same team. We work together, support each other, and care for each other. If one of our ministries suffers, we all suffer.
