Senior Pastor at Cobb Island Baptist Church

Position Overview

The Pastor serves as the spiritual leader of the Cobb Island Baptist Church, providing guidance, care, and vision to the congregation. This role encompasses preaching, teaching, pastoral care, ministry support, and administrative oversight, all rooted in the principles and traditions of the Baptist faith. The Pastor works collaboratively with church leadership and members to foster spiritual growth and community outreach. The ideal candidate would be co-vocational, retired, or otherwise not require a full-time salary.  

Key Responsibilities

·        Preaching and Teaching: Prepare and deliver biblically based sermons and lead regular worship services, Bible studies, and educational programs

·        Pastoral Care: Offer spiritual counseling, visitation, and support to individuals and families in times of need, including hospital, home, and crisis situations

·        Leadership: Provide vision and direction for church ministries, working alongside deacons, committees, and volunteers to ensure effective church operations

·        Community Engagement: Represent the church within the local community, participate in outreach and evangelism efforts, and cultivate partnerships with other organizations

·        Administrative Duties: Oversee church staff and volunteers, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with church policies and denominational guidelines

·        Weddings, Funerals, and Special Services: Officiate ceremonies and organize special events as needed

Desired Qualifications

·        Ordained (or candidate for) Minister with a deep understanding of, and agreement with, the Baptist Faith and Message

·        Master’s degree in divinity, theology, ministry, or a related field preferred

·        Demonstrated experience in preaching, teaching, and pastoral care within a church setting

·        Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills

·        Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals

·        Commitment to ongoing personal and professional growth
