  • This person will do their best to lead their family in the Way of Jesus, prioritizing their family’s health and wholeness.
  • This person will consistently implement healthy spiritual practices in their lives, such as Sabbath, the study of Scripture, healthy spiritual community, Fasting, and Generosity. This will include a practice of worshipful giving to Central Church.
  • These practices are not only to keep you and your family spiritually healthy, centered, and growing, but also to be a leader for our faith community. We can’t lead someone to places we haven’t been, so commitment to these practices is essential for our personal thriving and the health of our faith community.
  • This person will be a full participant in the life of our church. This includes attending (and being willing to lead in some capacities) all Central Church events or functions (movie nights, trunk or treats, special services, church work-days, VBS, worship nights, etc.) as much as reasonably possible.
  • This person will prioritize and be an active part of a Missional Community.
  • This person will be a part of, and help lead, a Circle. (group of 2-3 that meets to study Scripture and encourage one another in their discipleship to Jesus)
  • This person will be a part of Sunday morning service every Sunday of the year, minus 3 paid vacation Sundays/year.
  • This person will join our staff team on Staff Days (Tuesdays) from 10a-4p. Staff Days entail all-team meetings, breakout meetings, team development, and collaborative projects.
  • This person will bring their creative input, gifts and talents to the table for the good of the entire church, not just existing as hired staff, but taking a high level of ownership and initiative as a member of the team and a leader of our church.
  • This person will cooperate and collaborate with other staff and volunteers. We believe the best stuff comes from the context of community, so working together is much better than working alone! We want you to be an important part of a vibrant, healthy team dynamic.
  • This person will be expected to communicate well with the Serve Teams they lead and the church as a whole, setting the tone when it comes to creating a healthy culture of communication, collaboration and respect.
  • This person will be invited to attend an annual retreat or conference for learning, development, and team building. While attending this is not required, it will be strongly encouraged!

Compensation:

- (In Process)

  • 3 Sundays/year are allowed as paid time off.
  • 4 “Sabbath Sundays” are planned throughout the year to allow for built-in “time off” that does not count against your personal/vacation time.
  • Easter, Good Friday, and Christmas Eve are non-negotiable block-out dates.
  • All other Sundays are negotiable without pay and with advance notice.

ABOUT OUR CHURCH:

Central Church is a church in the suburbs of Detroit, MI. We are people that are Practicing the Way of Jesus Together by Doing Justice, Loving Mercy and Walking Humbly with God. While our church has many different ages represented, we currently skew heavily toward young families. Our heart is to help our church to grow in their apprenticeship to Jesus from birth through high school just as much as we resource and encourage the adults in our church to grow in their faith.

We are a Spirit-filled, intentionally diverse congregation with Jesus at the center. We have a heart to reach the growing, vibrant community God has placed us in with the love and grace of Jesus. We meet throughout the week in Missional Communities, which are table-centered small groups that each rally around a specific need they meet in our community.

If God is calling you to check out this opportunity, we'd love for you to apply and to speak with you about it further!
