CHANTILLY BIBLE CHURCH

COMMUNITY AND CONNECTIONS PASTOR


PURPOSE


The Community and Connections Pastor will oversee adult spiritual formation ministries, the welcoming and integration of new families into CBC discipleship and membership and the strategic outreach and service ministry to our surrounding community.  

This position will create programs, raise up leaders and serve as the pastoral shepherd over the vision of biblical community that fulfils the aims of theological training, the “one-anothers” of the New Testament and personal and corporate evangelism. The position will be staffed by a full-time employee.



QUALIFICATIONS


  • A Christian man of proven spiritual maturity who possesses the character qualities for pastors (I Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; I Peter 5:1-4) and has a fervent love for Jesus Christ and His people.


  • Completion of a Bible College or seminary degree in a relevant field, or demonstration of equivalent ministerial experience and competence.


  • Proven experience vision casting, development and successful implementation of spiritual formation strategies for diverse communities that include clear pathways for spiritual growth.


  • Proven experience in leadership development, one-on-one and group discipleship and empowering teams for the work of the ministry.


  • Demonstrated ability to communicate truthfully, articulately and passionately in small group and large group settings.


  • Demonstrated ability to be a strong leader with the humility to work within a team to accomplish unified goals.


  • Has a gospel-driven worldview and is mission-minded.



ACCOUNTABILITY


The Community and Connections Pastor reports to the Executive Pastor.



GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Support the mission and core values of Chantilly Bible Church through creating, overseeing and caring for Adult Spiritual Formation Ministries (including Community Groups, Men’s/Women’s Ministries, Adult Bible Classes and others as needed), Hospitality and Welcome Ministries and Community Outreach and Service Ministries.


  • Serve as one of the primary shepherds that help craft the spiritual direction and health of CBC in personal and corporate discipleship.


  • Work closely with the pastors and directors of our international congregations on unified discipleship philosophies while maintaining unique cultural contexts.  Be a key figure in the inter-cultural ministry vision of CBC.


  • Work as a member of the Teaching Team in helping craft a holistic spiritual formation approach across ministries to fulfill the mission of CBC.  Will preach as Teaching Team vision and gifting dictate.


  • Provide vision, leadership and direction over the community impact/outreach initiatives at CBC.  Both corporate and smaller group efforts.


  • Be available for All-Staff meetings, Teaching Team meetings and other meetings as needed.


  • Model healthy participation in healthy spiritual formation community.


  • Participate in other pastoral duties as needed (e.g., weddings, funerals, member visits, etc.).



SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Create and oversee ministry-areas through crafting, implementing and nurturing a ministry philosophy, curriculum strategy, leader development, ministry multiplication and health.


  • Provide clear pathways for relational discipleship for CBC visitors and members from a first-time visit all the way through engaging in gospel-centered community.


  • Oversee the implementation, administration and curation of RightNow Media and any other adult spiritual formation resource libraries and tools.


  • Raise up volunteer leaders within each ministry who are loved and cared for, equipped for their ministry roles, and are living out the mission and core values of CBC.


  • Lead with a vision and expectation of creating spiritual healthy, growing and multiplying areas of adult spiritual formation ministries in the advancement of God’s mission at CBC.
