Cross Church

Position Summary:

Cross Church is seeking a Youth Pastor who has a passion for sharing the gospel with students and is committed to coming alongside students to provide spiritual and visionary leadership by creating authentic environments for fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, ongoing spiritual development, and evangelism.

This person should exemplify a commitment to the concept supernatural power of a healthy local church, be a gifted communicator, have a specific calling to Student Ministry, be culturally relevant, relatable, trustworthy, have a strong work ethic, be energetic, and creative, while always being gospel-focused.

We are a regional multi-site church located in rural central Illinois, 45 minutes north of St. Louis and 45 south of Springfield, IL. 83% of the people we reach are unchurched or dechurched (as opposed to transfer growth). We are an SBC church by denominational affiliation, but in practice, we function more like a non-denominational church.

We are praying for someone who believes in the power of God through the work of the Holy Spirit to transform lives AND is being called by God to spend their life making it hard to go to hell from the region we live in. We are praying for someone who wants to experience revival and spiritual awakening where they live in their lifetime. We are praying for someone who wants to look at the Bible and look at their church and see the same thing.

We want to see God demonstrate Himself in such a clear way that the most cynical, far from God people in our region recognize there is one true God, and He is turning their hearts back toward Him. We are looking for staff who are broken-hearted over what breaks God's heart and willing to be used by the Holy Spirit to make a difference that lasts for all of eternity for the Glory of God alone.

Responsibilities:

Primarily, to have oversight and total responsibility for the development and maintenance of a comprehensive Student Ministry in keeping with Cross Church’s mission, vision, and purpose. “Comprehensive” includes every single area involving 6th–12th-grade students and their families, both churched and unchurched/dechurched.

However, for the right candidate, this could include college-young adults, becoming a Campus Pastor, leading worship, etc.
