Lake Charles, Louisiana
First Baptist Church of Lake Charles has a new slogan, “A church without a church that’s still a Church.” We also call ourselves “a church on the move.”
In 2020 two major hurricanes swept through southwest Louisiana causing great damage to both our community and our church. Our church building in downtown Lake Charles was rendered unusable by the hurricanes and we sold the property last year in 2021. As a result, since 2020 we have been meeting in two locations, using facilities of two different churches. We meet for worship on Sundays at 1 PM, and 6 PM on Wednesdays for youth and children’s ministries, and bible study and prayer time. Our Sunday worship services have about 130-140 people on average.
We are seeking God’s man to fill our NexGen pastor position, which is a full-time position. The NexGen Pastor will coordinate ministries from birth through high school, as well as ministry to the parents of these. We are a church with some unique challenges and opportunities. We have a vision for the future to be relevant for the next generation. At this time we have no office space, no church building, but we are searching for property to build for the future.
The person who fills our position of NexGen pastor will find challenges and opportunities, and a loving church family who has been through adversity but keeps on smiling.
