Eleven people began Montgomery Evangelical Free Church (MEFC) in 1965. Those eleven shared a deep desire for a church home where a body of believers could seek and serve the Lord together without reservation or hindrance. These eleven started with prayer. After many weeks, they felt the Lord's leading, took a step of faith, and started public worship services on Sunday, March 13, 1966. They purchased a new parsonage and three acres of land in the Montgomery Township. The church building was constructed on this site in 1970. The congregation grew rapidly, and soon it was realized that this present location would not allow room for expansion.
In 1981, the congregation voted to purchase a 12-acre tract of land directly across from the original building. On Palm Sunday, 1984, they moved into MEFC’s present sanctuary. Responding to the significant growth of families with small children, the church again expanded in 1997. They funded and built a Christian Education wing and a combination Gym/Fellowship area. This has helped MEFC expand our ability to minister to all ages.
Currently, MEFC serves as a church home to around 400 people of varying ages, cultures and ethnicities. Our mission is to glorify God by making disciples who reach across the aisle, street and globe with the love and truth of Jesus Christ.
