Who We Are
We desire to do God’s will and enrich our lives through study, worship, and fellowship. Through service, we reach out to the community and beyond. We have been richly blessed and want to share God’s love. We welcome all who come to worship with us, no matter where you are in your faith journey, your struggles or difficulties, or your background. God loves you, and so do we.
Our Purpose
...is to serve God as we witness the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Keeping the Great Commandment
Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.” This is the first command-ment. A second is like it: “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37-39 NIV).
Carrying out The Great Commission
Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and The Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And re-member, I am with you always to the end of the age.” (Matthew 25: 18-20 NIV)Our History
Our History
West Lake Christian Church began as a vision shared by three ministers who saw the need for a Disciples of Christ church to serve the west side of Lake of the Ozarks. In 1986, Rev. Frank Loehr, Rev. Stan Duncan, and Rev. Clark Hargus met to discuss the possibilities. By March of 1988, an Advisory Board was appointed, and funding was secured to begin the development of the church. Over the next 10 years, the congregation and facilities grew to their present-day size. The first worship service was held at the O Road Fire Station community room on Sunday, November 20th, 1988. In June of 1989, West Lake Christian Church purchased the old American Bank building on O Road and began holding services there. West Lake Christian Curch was officially chartered on January 7th with eighty-three charter members. Over the years, West Lake Christian Church continued to grow and expand. The church quickly outgrew the old bank building and, in 1992, added an outdoor chapel and a multi-purpose room to accommodate worship services. Then, in 1999, the long-term goal of building a formal sanctuary attached to the multi-purpose room was completed. From a vision shared by the three ministers who saw a need for a Disciples of Christ Church to serve the community's needs, West Lake Christian Church continues to serve the community's needs through many outreach and local mission programs while enriching the spiritual life of its members.
