Penney Memorial United Baptist Church

Penney Memorial United Baptist Church is a nearly 200‑year‑old congregation in the heart of Maine’s capital city. Each Sunday, 150–200 people of all ages gather for corporate worship that is rooted in Scripture and centered with strong congregational singing. Our focus on Sundays is the God who gathers us and His Gospel that saves us. We value reverent and joyful worship, participation over performance, and undistracting excellence. With gratitude we learn from and are encouraged by the past, and with eager expectation we gather as a living body to meet with God today. We are in a hopeful season of growth. As we strengthen and rebuild volunteer ensembles (including adult, youth, children’s, and handbell choirs) we are praying for a Director who loves God, loves the church, and finds joy in helping God’s people worship Him together.
