Job Description

The Assistant Social Media Specialist (ASMS) produces content for Chosen People Ministries’ social media channels and plays an important role in executing ministry-wide projects and efforts on social media. The Assistant Social Media Specialist reports to and will work closely with the Manager of Digital Media and Marketing and other team members in the creation and monitoring of editorial content strategy that supports the development goals of Chosen People Ministries.

ASMS Position Particulars

Location of Service: Applicant must work in our headquarters in New York, NY

Hours of Service: We are accepting applicants for both part-time (20 hours per week) and full-time (40 hours per week). Applicant must work between the hours of 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM Eastern.

Starting Salary: Salary is commensurate with experience and education.

Character and Spiritual Life

The Assistant Social Media Specialist is a position within a Christian/Messianic ministry and therefore the individual is expected to maintain the highest level of moral character and faith as outlined in Scripture.

As Paul wrote to Timothy, “Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you” (1 Timothy 4:16).

Whereas the Assistant Social Media Specialist might not be an ordained person or “elder,” the worker is still held to these same high standards in both character and doctrine. Regular Bible study, prayer, and congregational attendance at minimum are expected of all staff and leaders, as they act as an example for those they lead. Attendance at the weekly chapel held at the Chosen People Ministries headquarters is also expected.

Responsibilities and Requirements

The Role of a Chosen People Ministries Staff Member

The overarching task of every Chosen People Ministries staff member is to fulfill the Chosen People Ministries mission statement: “to pray for, evangelize, disciple, and serve Jewish people everywhere and to help fellow believers do the same.”

Founded in 1894, Chosen People Ministries reaches the Jewish community globally for Jesus the Messiah. Chosen People Ministries does this by fulfilling the above mission statement.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Edit and create written and visual content on Chosen People Ministries’ main social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Pinterest, and Instagram) in alignment with the organization’s mission statement.
  • Take direction from, and collaborate with, the Manager of Digital Media and Marketing to create and execute social media content according to our editorial calendar.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the ministry to develop and promote social media content, e-blast content, and other marketing materials for events.
  • Consistently research and employ best practices in social media marketing.
  • Assist with monitoring social media channels and seek counsel with regard to appropriate responses and engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or a minimum of one to three years of experience in social media content-producing roles.
  • Good copywriting skills and works well with editors.
  • Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills affording the ability to thrive as a creative problem-solver in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to adapt to and convey the institutional voice on each platform.
  • Able to meet strict deadlines.
  • Able to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Have a strong understanding of all major social media platforms and features including Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest—and the next big thing!
  • Solid understanding of the Bible.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Canva a plus. Proficiency in Photoshop and Lightroom are also great, but not necessary.
  • Type minimum of 30 words per minute.
  • Work experience in a ministry.
  • Above-average understanding of and familiarity with Jewish life/Israel/Messianic community.
  • Familiarity with the evangelical church.
