Job Description

Houseparent Couple

New Mexico Christian Children’s Home (NMCCH)

“Go and Do Likewise”

Make a Difference in the Life of a Child

New Mexico Christian Children’s Home is seeking Christian married couples with a heart for children to serve as Houseparents.

Houseparents provide a safe, stable, loving, and Christ-centered home environment for children in our care. This is more than a job—it is an opportunity for a couple to serve together and make a lasting difference in the lives of children who need encouragement, guidance, consistency, and love.

You won’t do this work alone. NMCCH provides Houseparents with extensive support, training, and resources to help them succeed in their role and care well for the children entrusted to them.

What Houseparents Do

As a Houseparent couple, you will help create a healthy family-style home by:

  • Providing children with a safe, caring, and structured home environment
  • Building positive, supportive relationships with the children in your care
  • Providing Christian guidance and modeling Christ-centered values
  • Helping children with daily routines, school responsibilities, activities, and appointments
  • Teaching practical life skills, responsibility, and healthy relationships
  • Working closely with NMCCH staff and other professionals to meet each child’s needs
  • Creating meaningful experiences and memories as part of everyday family life

Schedule & Compensation

Houseparents are hourly employees and receive overtime pay for hours worked over 40 per week.

Our current Houseparent schedule is:

Two weeks on duty, followed by one week off.

Combined compensation for a Houseparent couple generally ranges from approximately $64,000 to $120,000 per year, depending on experience and hours worked.

Exceptional Benefits

In addition to wages, NMCCH provides Houseparents with significant benefits, including:

  • Housing provided on and off duty
  • Utilities provided on and off duty
  • Food provided while on duty
  • 100% of family health insurance premiums paid by NMCCH
  • 100% of family dental insurance premiums paid by NMCCH
  • 100% of family vision insurance premiums paid by NMCCH
  • Life insurance
  • Short-term disability insurance
  • Retirement plan with up to a 5% employer match
  • Training and ongoing support

Because housing and utilities, are provided, and family insurance premiums are provided, the overall value of the Houseparent compensation package extends well beyond wages alone.

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for couples who:

  • Have a strong Christian faith and desire to serve others
  • Genuinely enjoy working with children and young people
  • Can provide patience, consistency, structure, encouragement, and love
  • Work well together as a couple and as part of a larger team
  • Are willing to learn and receive ongoing training
  • Want their work to have purpose and make a lasting impact

Serve Together. Change Lives Together.

If you and your spouse have ever felt called to use your home, your marriage, and your lives to make a difference for children, we would love to talk with you.

Come serve with New Mexico Christian Children’s Home and “Go and Do Likewise.”

About the New Mexico Christian Children's Home

At NMCCH, we believe that the truest human purpose is to join God in loving others as He would have us love them. Believing in God's desire for people to be just, to be merciful, walk humbly, and love one another, we strive to help people in need. In a phrase, we stand by the words Jesus spoke when he said, "go and do likewise."

We envision a world where the people we serve have seen firsthand the power of love, mercy, and humility; where they join those who are inspired, empowered and eager to "go and do likewise." Breaking a cycle is good. Starting a new one is even better.

We do this by providing homes and a Christian community for the people we serve. Along with a safe place to live, food, and clothing, we provide and coordinate social services that include mental health counseling, spiritual guidance, life coaching, adoption services, and educational vocational opportunities. Most of all, we show people that they matter; that they are important to God, and that they are important to us. We serve K-12 youth, young adults ages eighteen to twenty-two, single parents and their minor children, and mothers who are pregnant and have no safe living conditions.
