Student Pastor/First Baptist Church of London

The Students ministry exists to see students encounter Jesus in an authentic way. Helping them and their parents to grow in wisdom and knowledge of Jesus. Equipping them to do the work of the church in their daily life, for the glory of God alone. The Branch is a fun and interactive ministry setting where students can be themselves, build relationships with other believers, and learn about the goodness of God.

Role: The goal of the Student Pastor position at First Baptist Church London is to show the love of God to students through the preaching and teaching of God’s Word, authentic worship, intentional discipleship, and creative fellowship.

Position: Full-time

Reports to: Senior Pastor

Responsibilities:

• Provide direction and vision in the day-to-day running of the student ministry.

• Work in harmony with the other members of the First Baptist staff and volunteer teams.

• Help to lead and develop the Students Worship Team.

• Be present and active on school campuses and after school activities

• Actively engage in weekly staff meetings.

• Commit to study and message preparation for students and be willing/able to preach on Sunday mornings when called on.

• Help to recruit and equip leaders for the student ministry.

• Engage in weekly meaningful small group times.

• Plan and execute special events throughout the year (Camp, Mission Trips, Fall Retreat, Ski Trip, etc.).

• Learn how to oversee and maintain a yearly budget.

• Help to run and maintain the student ministry social media pages.

• Other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Pastor. Including, but not limited to, all major church activities.

• Develop sound communication skills with students, parents, volunteers, staff, and church members spanning a large generational gap.

• Be an active and willing participant in the life and ministry of First Baptist Church.

Qualifications:

• A committed Chirstian living in accordance with the Word of God whose moral character models the Christian life.

• Is in agreement with the constitution and bylaws of First Baptist London as well as accepts and embraces doctrine found in the BFM 2000.

• A student of God’s Word with a commitment to learning in humility.

• Ability to be flexible, adaptable, resourceful, teachable, and sensitive to God’s Spirit in leadership.

• A servant of Jesus and others.

• Highly self-motivated and organized.

• Preferred: 4 year degree either finished or in-progress.

FBC London has long been one of the cornerstone churches of the community. We have a strong leader and pastor in Dr. Gregg Curtis: Pastor Gregg and his wife Marilyn joined FBC London in June 2017. “First Baptist has a rich heritage of Gospel ministry and has experienced great things in the past,” said Curtis. “I believe that God will do even greater things as, together, we build upon a great foundation and tradition.” Pastor Gregg and Marilyn are from Elizabethtown, KY, and have served churches in Indiana, Iowa, Colorado, Canada, and Kentucky. He has also served on the mission field overseas in Thailand, Philippines, Japan, Korea, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico. Pastor Gregg’s education began at the University of Louisville with a B. S. in Pre-Law. He then obtained a Bachelor of Religious Education and a Master of Religious Education at Temple Theological Seminary. He also received a Master of Theology from Campbellsville University. He then received his Doctor of Ministry from Luther Rice Seminary. He also did several post graduate studies in Church Leadership at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY.

We have an outstanding kid's ministry and dedicated Children/First Kids leader in Kim Smith. Kim is constantly working hard to make FBC London the place to be for kids in our community. We have outreach and discipleship programs weekly, as well as special events spaced throughout the year for kids and families.

Our youth ministry is made up of a great group of dedicated students who love to worship and be together. The youth experience many opportunities for discipleship, missions, and worship in locally, regionally, and worldwide. Our church is dedicated to our youth and young families. Nothing demonstrates this more than the brand-new state of the art youth and kid's wing recently added to our campus. The sky is the limit for this opportunity.
