Director of Youth Ministry (FT)
Purpose
The Director of Youth Ministry shall equip the church in its mission “To Know Christ and Make His Love Known,” through youth (6th -12th grade) and family programming which includes discipleship, outreach and missions.
Position Status
This is a full-time position with variant hours which include evenings and weekends. The Director of Youth Ministry reports to the Senior Pastor and is ultimately accountable to the Staff-Parish Relations Committee.
Qualifications
- A Christian committed to growing spiritually, personally, and professionally.
- A four-year degree in a Christian Education, Youth Ministry, or religion preferred.
- Skills and experience in all areas of youth ministry, including communication and organizational skills, supervisory skills, ability to equip and empower volunteers, relational skills.
Primary Job Focus
Work in collaboration with the Youth Council to develop and implement a comprehensive ministry plan for youth (6th-12th grade) and their families that strengthens discipleship.
Essential Job Duties
- Develop relationships with youth, volunteers, parents, and families, and encourage and disciple them in their walk with Jesus Christ. This should be done on and off the Grace campus.
- Recruit, equip and supervise volunteers, staff, substitutes and interns in youth ministries.
- Ensure that the Grace Safe Sanctuary Policy is followed for all youth ministry events and activities.
- Work with volunteers and parents to coordinate a youth Sunday School program that enhances discipleship learning and growth.
- Work with volunteers and staff to plan Grace Youth Fellowship and WINGS programs.
- Work with the Youth Council to plan and implement the various year-round activities and events for Grace Youth Fellowship.
- Enhance youth participation and learning in worship, through Youth Band, acolyte/crucifier program, and other appropriate activities.
- Equip youth for mission and service through opportunities in the church and community. Attend with the Grace youth a Salkehatchie summer camp.
- Connect with youth in Grace Scouting programs, local schools, FCA, and sports.
- Coordinate youth basketball program. Work with the Gym Administrator to enhance youth participation in church sports activities.
- Maintain connection with college age students, offering ministry opportunities digitally and in person. Connect college students with local college ministries that meet regularly.
General Job Duties
- Attend meetings and give reports, including staff meetings, Church Council meetings, and Youth Council meetings. Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
