Job Description: Lead Pastor at Fairview Church of Shoals, NC


Fairview Church of Shoals, NC, is actively seeking a full-time Lead Pastor who will serve as the spiritual and missional leader of our vibrant and growing congregation. We are looking for a spirit-led pastor with a passion for shepherding our flock, teaching Biblical principles, and engaging with the community.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Biblically based sermons that teach, challenge, inspire, and motivate the congregation
  • Act as the spiritual leader of the church, inspiring and empowering others in spiritual development, giving, discipleship, and outreach
  • Develop, coach, and mentor laity and staff for church leadership
  • Provide pastoral care and oversee visitation for members and attendees
  • Lead church staff to effectively support the ministries of the church
  • Engage actively with the surrounding community
  • Appropriately involved in church-related activities, including finance and administration
  • Officiate at baptisms, weddings, funerals, and other ceremonial events as needed
  • Counsel with members as necessary
  • Adherence to the Statement of Beliefs and By-Laws of our Church

  2. Believes in the authority, relevance, and inerrancy of God’s Word.
  3. Strong desire to see Christ’s Church build disciples and grow His Kingdom.


Qualifications:

  • Master of Divinity preferred. Experience highly valued.
  • 5-10 years of leadership and ministry experience.
  • Skills in written and oral communication, listening, administration, and experience with church software. A willingness to use technology to enhance worship services is preferred.

·        The Staff Parish Team under the Guidance of Church Council

·        Children’s Ministry Coordinator

·        Church Office Administrator

 

Location:

Fairview Church is situated in the foothills of the NC mountains, in a unique small-town atmosphere that is ideal for families, yet centrally located near larger cities like Mount Airy and Winston Salem. Pastor and family should reside in the Shoals Community(preferred) or surrounding area.

Fairview Milestones 2023-2024

July 2023

•     Disaffiliated from UMC to become Fairview Church of Shoals Inc

•     Utilized guest speakers through September as we worked to redefine our Church

August 2023

•     Voted to remain an Independent Church

•     Teams worked to define the “Church We want to be”, developed Bylaws, and Statement of Beliefs

 

September 2023

•     Hired Interim Pastor

 

October 2023

•     Held first Annual Church wide meeting of members

o   Established with 133 members

o  Ratified Bylaws and Statement of Beliefs

 

 November 2023 

•     1st new members joined- 11 new members join our church, and 1st baptism.


December 2023

•     Held our 1st monthly Senior Luncheon with 30 in attendance

•     A new Young Adult Sunday School class established meeting in the old parsonage

•     Full-time Pastor hired in December, Church and Pastor entered into an annual covenant, reviewable each year

 

January 2024

•     Moved church offices to the old parsonage to create room in the church for additional Sunday School classes, a larger nursery, and a nursing mother’s room.

•     Added Student Ministries leader to help grow our Youth Program

•     Held 1st Men and Women’s Bible study with over 90 attendees.

•     Held a leadership retreat for all church leaders

•     Established Missional support: locally to Young-life and Internationally in Asia and Africa, all with direct ties to Fairview Church.


February 2024

•     13 children were dedicated

•     Redefined a staff leadership role to support service and fellowship opportunities for church members and attendees and surrounding community.

 

March 2024

•     Due to growth in Children’s attendance (up to 50) on Sunday mornings separate more focused children’s worship moments was established, also allowing addition space for adult worship

•     Designed an approved Biblical based program that grounds our children with age-appropriate biblical learning


May 2024

•     Quarterly Fellowship Meals Started as additional opportunities for fellowship outside of worship

 

June 2024

•     Established Kid-check system for safety, newcomer parent reassurance, parent communication and management of children’s ministry

•     Updated the playground to a more compliant state along with the ability to safely accommodate more children

 

July 2024

•     We had over 100 kids attend VBS

•     Director of Discipleship position created to increase the focus on growing Disciples

•     Had 14 people baptized at the river


August 2024

•     Preschool year starts at capacity -45 kids

•     Just Because Jesus Loves You Ministry outfitted 90+ kids with new Shoes and Socks to start the school year.

•     Remodeled the Fellowship Hall with plan to update children’s classrooms by year-end

 

October 2024

•     New virtual Bible studies option established for Youth and Adults.

 

Plans for remainder 2024

•     Redefine current Director of Programs role to better meet the needs of our growing Children’s Ministry

•     Continue to focus on God’s calling for our Church

Fairview Sunday School Classes

 

Adult II Class- uses a quarterly to study. Ages 70+,  Group of 10-15 people

Fellowship Class- takes a deeper dive by studying books of the bible. Ages 40-75, Group of 30-40 people


Insight Class- takes a more topical approach to studying the bible. Ages 30-55, group of 15-20 people


Young Adult Class- takes a deeper dive into the bible by looking at scripture. Ages 19-36, group of 20-30 people


Nursery- Ages 0-1.5 

Toddler Sunday School-Ages 1.5-3

Preschool Sunday School -ages 3-4

K-2 Sunday School

3-5 grade- Sunday School

Middle and High School Youth Ages 12-18 years
