Position Overview:

The Children’s Ministry Director is responsible for leading and overseeing the Children’s Ministry programs at Legacy Baptist Church. This position requires a dynamic individual with a passion for teaching children, a commitment to spiritual development, and gifted in organizational leadership. The candidate will work closely with the Family Pastor and other pastoral staff, volunteers, and families to ensure the church’s mission is upheld in all children’s programs. The job requires a minimum of 20 hours per week (including office hours listed below).

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; highly relational and approachable.

• Alignment with Legacy Baptist Church’s Statement of Faith.

• Must successfully pass a background check.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Family Pastor to lead, plan, and oversee all Wednesday night children’s programs and activities.

• Teach and lead a children’s small group during Sunday morning services.

• Organize and manage special events such as Vacation Bible School, Back to School Bash, Parent’s Night Out (bi-annually), and Easter EGGsperience.

• Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers for children’s and nursery ministries.

• Coordinate childcare for church events as needed.

• Ensure safety policies and background checks are maintained for all Children’s Ministry volunteers.

• Actively participate in the life of Legacy Baptist Church, including weekly staff meetings.

• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

• Manage childcare for Sunday night services.

• Lead Children’s Church on Sunday Mornings.

• Teach Children’s Sunday School Class.

Preschool Ministry Duties:

• Purchase and provide snacks/refreshments for preschool classrooms as needed.

• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation and safety in preschool rooms. Weekly duties: sanitize toys, surfaces, bedding, vacuum and empty trashcans, etc.

• Manage volunteer scheduling for all preschool-related ministries (Sunday morning classes, check-in desk, Wednesday evening activities).

• Monitor volunteer engagement and provide support or fill-in coverage when needed.

• Maintain clear and consistent communication with volunteers and parents via platforms such as Facebook, email, and text.

• Assist in developing and managing the preschool ministry budget.

• Serve as a source of encouragement and spiritual support to children, volunteers, and parents.

General Expectations:

• Collaboration with the Family Pastor regarding children’s events while at the same time initiating potential events / outings.

• Assist in setup and take down of family events.

• Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and a Christ-like character.

• Maintains composure and adaptability in a dynamic ministry environment.

• Exercises sound judgment and biblical wisdom in decision-making.

• Respects confidentiality and handles sensitive information with care.

• Supports the mission and ministries of Legacy Baptist Church through faithful attendance, tithing, and prayer.

• Pursues personal spiritual growth through regular Bible reading, prayer, and discipleship.
