Worship Leader

POSITION SUMMARY

The Worship Leader serves the Braeswood Church Worship Ministry by leading the congregation in worship every other Sunday and helping ensure that worship services, rehearsals, worship planning, and ministry responsibilities are carried out with excellence, organization, and professionalism. This role is responsible for the musical leadership of the worship ministry and maintaining clear communication with the Worship Director while supporting the vision and direction of Braeswood Church.

COMPENSATION

• $25.00 per hour
• Approximately 10 hours every other week when scheduled to lead.



REGULAR SCHEDULE

When scheduled to lead, responsibilities generally include:

Every Wednesday Rehearsal: 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM

(Beginning in September, rehearsals will move to Thursdays from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM.)

Every Sunday Worship Service: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Every other Sunday – School of Worship: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

• Open the session with approximately 15 minutes of devotion and prayer.
• Provide general oversight while students participate in coaching sessions.
• Utilize available time to complete Planning Center and Worship Online responsibilities as needed.
• Planning Center & Worship Online: Approximately one hour every other week.

MONTHLY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Attend the Monthly Song Selection Meeting (approximately 1½ hours).
• Attend the Monthly Worship Team Prayer Meeting on the third Saturday of each month from 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Worship Leadership

• Lead the entire worship set during assigned services.
• Delegate leadership of individual songs or portions of the worship set to Tomi or Maudley when they are scheduled to serve with you, as appropriate.
• Lead rehearsals on the weeks you are scheduled.
• Come fully prepared, knowing all songs, lyrics, arrangements, and transitions without relying on the confidence monitor.
• Ensure rehearsals are productive and begin and end on time.

Planning & Administration

The Worship Leader is responsible for ensuring all planning is completed accurately and on time.

At a minimum, one week prior to the scheduled service, the following must be completed:

• The complete set list must be created in Worship Online.
• All songs must be properly mapped in Worship Online.
• Song keys must be accurate and reflected correctly in both Worship Online and Planning Center.

Planning Center must be fully updated, including:

• Final song selection
• Song order
• Song keys
• Worship leader assignments
• Identification of who will be leading each song or specific portions of songs
• Any necessary service notes for the team

Planning should be completed with sufficient time for musicians and vocalists to prepare adequately before rehearsal at least one week before rehearsal.

Communication & Accountability

• Report directly to Ilaria Faleye, Worship Director.
• Maintain open, timely, and consistent communication regarding any worship team issues, concerns, scheduling conflicts, or ministry needs.
• Communicate directly with the Worship Director regarding lateness, absences, emergencies, or any circumstance that may affect rehearsals or worship services.

MINISTRY EXPECTATIONS

The Worship Leader's role is to lead the congregation in worship through music. The spiritual leadership, discipleship, pastoral oversight, correction, and overall direction of the worship team remain the responsibility of the Worship Director. Should these responsibilities change in the future, they will be communicated by the Worship Director.

The Worship Leader is expected to:

• Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and reliability.
• Consistently arrive on time and prepared for all rehearsals, meetings, and worship services.
• Receive direction and feedback with humility and a teachable spirit.
• Work collaboratively with the Worship Director, pastors, musicians, and vocalists.
• Support and uphold the vision, values, standards, and leadership of Braeswood Church.
• Serve with excellence, integrity, unity, and respect.

PROBATIONARY PERIOD

Acceptance of this position is contingent upon successfully completing a three (3) to six (6) month probationary period. This probationary period is intended to provide an opportunity for observation and evaluation of overall performance, reliability, communication, teachability, and alignment with the vision, expectations, and direction communicated by church leadership.

CONTINUED SERVICE

Continued service in this position is contingent upon the Worship Leader's consistent ability to fulfill the responsibilities and expectations outlined in this job description. This includes maintaining excellence in preparation, timeliness, communication, planning, teamwork, and alignment with the leadership, vision, and direction of the Worship Ministry. Failure to consistently meet these expectations may result in reassignment or discontinuation of the role at the discretion of church leadership.
