Position: Men’s/Sports Pastor

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Expected Schedule: Approximately 40 hours per week, with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and ministry events as required.

Position Overview

Central Church is seeking an energetic, gifted, and relational Men’s/Sports to lead and develop a growing men’s ministry through biblical discipleship, sports, fellowship, outreach, and authentic relationships.

This position will provide spiritual leadership and pastoral care for a rapidly growing men’s ministry in the Charlotte area. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for helping men grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and will be able to connect with men in a variety of settings—from Bible studies and small groups to a round of golf, a pickleball game, or community outreach.

The Men’s Pastor will inspire, equip, and challenge men to know God’s Word, apply biblical principles to their everyday lives, and become active followers of Christ in their families, workplaces, churches, and communities.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide vision, leadership, and spiritual direction for the church’s men’s ministry.
• Develop and lead Bible studies, discipleship opportunities, small groups, fellowship events, and sports-based ministry initiatives.
• Build authentic relationships with men and create environments where they can connect, grow, and develop spiritually.
• Teach and communicate God’s Word with clarity, biblical accuracy, and practical application.
• Encourage and motivate men to read, understand, apply, and live out Scripture.
• Recruit, train, develop, and lead volunteers and ministry teams.
• Plan and execute men’s events, retreats, outreach opportunities, service projects, and fellowship activities.
• Lead men in serving the church and community through intentional outreach and ministry opportunities.
• Provide pastoral care and spiritual guidance to church members as needed.
• Participate in traditional pastoral responsibilities, including weddings, funerals, baptisms, baby dedications, membership processes, pastoral counseling, and volunteer interviews.
• Work collaboratively with pastors, ministry leaders, and other church departments to support the overall mission and vision of Central Church.
• Maintain strong organizational and administrative practices appropriate for a large and growing church environment serving approximately 4,000 people on campus each Sunday.
• Be available for ministry responsibilities that may require evenings and weekends.
• Perform other pastoral and ministry responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• A committed and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a life that reflects biblical character and spiritual maturity.
• Demonstrated ability to teach and communicate God’s Word effectively.
• Strong interpersonal and relational skills with the ability to connect with men from a variety of backgrounds and life stages.
• Strong leadership, organizational, planning, and communication skills.
• A minimum of three years of experience in pastoral ministry, pastoral care, discipleship, or ministry leadership, with demonstrated success in helping people grow in their faith.
• Experience recruiting, developing, and leading volunteers and ministry teams.
• A genuine passion for men’s discipleship, fellowship, outreach, and spiritual growth.
• Ability to use sports, recreation, and shared interests as opportunities to build relationships and open doors for discipleship.
• Ability to work effectively in a large-church ministry environment.
• Willingness and ability to work evenings, weekends, and other ministry-related events as needed.
• Must meet the qualifications and expectations traditionally associated with pastoral ministry.
• Must be willing to become and remain a member in good standing of Central Church.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a spiritually mature, highly relational, and energetic leader who can move comfortably between a Bible study, a golf course, a pickleball court, a coffee shop, and a community outreach opportunity. He should be passionate about Jesus, committed to Scripture, and intentional about building relationships that lead men toward deeper faith, stronger families, meaningful service, and a life fully surrendered to Christ.

Above all, the Men’s/Sports Pastor must model a Christ-centered life personally and professionally, lead with integrity and humility, and have a genuine desire to see men know Jesus, grow in their faith, and become spiritual leaders in their homes, church, workplaces, and communities.
