Purpose & Vision: To employ a person who will reach, engage, transform, and equip students for life through the gospel of Jesus! To lead our Student Ministry environments in being relational, relaxed, relevant, and real; and to lead the students into becoming followers of Jesus who make followers of Jesus! The focus of Student Ministries is outreach and discipleship through healthy relationships, mentoring and teaching the Word of God so that students and leaders build relationships, create memories, and share Jesus.


Accountability: Based on this position description, this role reports directly to the Adult Ministries Pastor who will conduct an annual evaluation and bi-weekly mentorship meetings to assist in accomplishing the goals set forth for this ministry. 


Education and Experience: This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience as a director in ministry. A Bachelor’s Degree is recommended. Conferences and Master’s level work in the ministry will be encouraged. The individual must have a proven track record of effective ministry, leadership, judgment, and above reproach character. 


Key Responsibilities at Living Hope:

This 45 hour/week position includes being in the office to plan, pray and prepare for ministry.


Junior High and Senior High Age: This main area of responsibility includes leading a ministry that reach and disciples teenagers for Christ. Recruit, train and empower leaders for effective ministry with the youth. Presently, the Student Ministry consists of a Sunday morning youth service for grades 7-12, a Wednesday night life group program for grades 7-8 and a Sunday night life group program from grades 9-12. Direct leadership and oversight will include quarterly outreach events, weekly life groups, annual mission trips, leadership and the collective (which is our Sunday morning youth service).


Having a personal connection with students and leaders is a high priority. This includes coordinating weekly Student Ministry meetings, speaking as scheduled, and coordination and promotion of retreats, activities, conferences, and camps for all students. The Director will provide opportunities for students to serve within the ministry of the overall

church as well as be involved in the local community. Ministry ‘to’ and ‘with’ parents is essential. Sunday Service responsibilities includes teaching and connecting with students, parents and church family. While service and stage responsibilities include greeting, connections, and preaching two times - as scheduled.


Children’s Ministry & Young Adult Transition: Connect with Team56 of Children’s Ministry and make sure these students transition well to the Jr. High Ministry. Likewise, making sure the transition out of the ministry as senior to the Young Adult Ministry is done with intentionality, care, and purpose.


Church Leadership/Service: Serve as a leader in the church, and a member of the staff, supporting and collaborating with the Pastors and Elders to help the church accomplish its overall mission and vision (Matt. 28:19-20; Eph 4:11-16). Attend “Ministry Huddle” meetings, Staff Meetings, special leadership meetings and the annual Leadership Retreat. Also, as our church moves to fulfill its multi-site vision this person would be responsible for giving leadership to the system, structure, and leaders.
