Portland, Oregon
Table Community Church is a highly relational church of 500 located just outside Portland, Oregon. Being created in the image of a relational God, it is our belief that life is best lived in community. We are built for connection & thrive in relationship. Because of this we choose to follow Jesus in community. Each Sunday Table Community Church hosts two weekend gatherings each with a blend of contemporary Christian music, hymns, and liturgical elements.
Why the name Table Community Church?
For the first 350 years of Christianity, there were no church buildings. Church buildings weren’t really built until after Constantine became a follower of Jesus and legalized Christianity. Up until that point, followers of Jesus gathered in homes. And the focal point, the central piece of furniture, wasn’t the stage or the pulpit — it was the table.
Life at the table, for the early Church, was sacred because it reminded the early believers of their union with Jesus (Gospel) as they celebrated communion together; it’s where they experienced fellowship with their faith family (Community); and it’s where they extended biblical hospitality to the least, the last and the lost (Mission). Here at TCC, we desire to do these three things regularly: celebrate the Gospel; live in community with our faith family; and extend biblical hospitality to the least, the last and the lost.
