Each and every experience, each and every person—and most of all, God’s faithfulness—continue to shape the DNA of Anthem Church.

In May of 2004, Steve and Debs Sudworth set out with their family from South Africa, convinced of the call of God to plant a church in Chicago. In the beginning, even when numbers were few and accommodations scarce, their faith remained strong that the Lord had a mighty destiny and a great inheritance for the city. Sometimes the journey was exhilarating, sometimes terrifying. But God’s faithfulness has always been sure.

Today, Anthem Church still rests in that same, unchanging faithfulness of God. Throughout the years we find ourselves crying out to God for His purposes in our city.  We cry out for the Kingdom of Jesus to have its rightful place– in restoration, healing, salvation, mercy and redemption.  We seek to walk daily in grace and obedience to the Holy Spirit.  We believe the flavor of God’s presence—on earth as it is in heaven—is the spiritual destiny of Chicago, a bold, creative and God-yearning city. We crystalize this belief in our rallying cry, “All of Jesus For Everyone.”

We celebrate our past…but revel most in God’s future, trusting that our story will always be wrapped in His. God is on the move in Chicago, in our nation and throughout the world…it’s our privilege to partner with Him!
