HISTORY: The First Church of Wellston was established in 1909 and celebrated our 103rd Anniversary in July 2012. We are an independent, non-denominational, Bible-believing church united in the purpose of glorifying the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through the salvation of souls, the edification of Christians, the teaching of the Word of God, and the world-wide proclamation of the Gospel. We are accustomed to using the King James Bible, but we also use other translations for study.
CHURCH INFO:
Government: First Church is governed by an elected Board consisting of up to six male Deacons, 3 trustees, a female Treasurer, and a female Clerk who meet monthly. We hold annual meetings with the congregation in September.
Missions: We financially support 3 foreign missionaries (Japan, Spain, Philippines). We also support our local ministry/retreat called “Little Mary’s Hospitality House,” “Love in the Name of Christ” (Love INC), and “Christians United for Israel.”
Attendance: Current membership is 30. Our adult Sunday School (Lifeway studies) averages 10-15, but sadly at this time we have no children. Sunday Morning Worship varies with added visitors in the summer months giving us numbers over 40, whereas the winter months often drop to a low of 30/35. Wednesday prayer service has between 10-15.
FINANCES: Our budget for the 2020-2021year is just under $65,000.00.
Job benefits include a parsonage, money for fuel gas and electricity, cash salary, and 14 days annual vacation to include two Sundays.
