At Cross Road Church, our greatest joy each week is gathering together to worship God. One of our seven core values says, "Deep encounters with God are our desire in worship, service and ministry." We believe individual worship leads to corporate worship and when deep encounters with God happen in the community of faith, God transforms His people. We’re not about formality or dress codes. You’ll see everything from suits and ties to jeans and t-shirts on a Sunday morning. We believe God looks beyond appearances and into the heart, and that’s where we seek to meet Him.

Position Overview

The Worship Pastor’s greatest passion at Cross Road is loving people and guiding them into the presence of God. The WP serves as the administrative leader for the Worship Ministry at the church. The Worship Leader works closely with the Senior Pastor developing the worship ministry and services. The Worship Pastor oversees, encourages, mentors, and provides leadership for the worship ministry which includes vocalists, musicians, technical personnel, and creative arts. The Worship Leader collaborates directly with the technical volunteers to achieve the highest and best presentation of the Gospel through all worship experiences at Cross Road. The Worship Leader will work closely with the Senior Pastor to develop annual goals and objectives in line with the mission, values, and vision of Cross Road Church to Reach, Teach, Live, and Love Like Jesus.

Ministry Leadership

Work closely with the Senior Pastor to ensure that the Sunday morning worship services provide a unified presentation of both music and the message from God’s Word.

Collaborate with the pastoral team to design corporate worship services, including selecting songs, mapping the service order, and coordinating technical details.

Work with all ministry staff to develop age-appropriate worship experiences for children’s and youth ministries for both Sunday morning worship and Wednesday evenings.

Manage the necessary administrative details of the ministry, such as preparing and distributing practice resources like song maps and chord charts to the band at least one week ahead of the scheduled service.

Vocally and musically lead the congregation in singing before the throne of God during weekend services and other events throughout the church.

Operate, learn, and oversee the church’s digital and stage equipment, including ProPresenter, sound boards, computers, and projection technologies.

Oversee the staff and team of the church’s worship tech ministry.

Organize and manage the church’s digital worship experience across its YouTube channel and social media platforms. 

Volunteer Leadership

Recruit, audition, schedule, and spiritually shepherd a volunteer roster of 40+ musicians, vocalists, and technical team.  

Develop a process to regularly identify and deploy new volunteers in the church’s worship ministry.

Inspire and equip volunteers to serve with confidence, joy, and a shared sense of mission.

Build a team culture encouraging spiritual growth, collaboration, and excellence.

Administration

The Worship Pastor will meet, and coordinate, with the Deacon Ministry Worship Team.

Ensure music selections agree with the Cross Road Statement of Beliefs.  

Maintain volunteer schedules and ministry records, ministry supplies and resources.

Ensure the worship platform and technical booth areas are organized, clean, and safe.

General Responsibilities

The Worship Pastor coordinates with the Senior Pastor and the Executive Pastor in the overall operation of Cross Road Church.

Be an engaged team player participating in weekly staff meetings and maintaining open, regular communication with the ministry staff.

The WP will coordinate with the support staff to ensure facility schedules and needs are met as well as financial practices and policies are followed.

Pastoral responsibilities such as teaching, preaching, counseling, congregational care, and assisting with weddings and funerals as needed.

Maintain regular work schedule as approved by the senior pastor.

Any other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Pastor

Who you are

The Worship Pastor at Cross Road Church is a pastor first above all other qualities. He shepherds and cares not only for those in the Worship ministry, but the entire church family along with the other ministry staff. He is a Christ-follower committed to his relationship with the Lord. He is energetic, humble, organized, and creative leading a diverse body of believers to the throne of God in worship.

Compensation

Compensation for this full-time position and vital role with Cross Road Church is based upon the experience and skills of our new worship pastor.

Cross Road Church is a non-denominational Christian church founded in the summer of 2002, when Pastor Brad Cooper opened his backyard for worship gatherings. From its inception when Pastor Brad and his wife, Robyn, invited seven couples to their home for “donuts and devotions,” the church grew rapidly in attendance and needed larger accommodations. Soon after, the church was invited by the ARC of Sedgwick County, now AbilityPoint, to use its facility for regular services. Attendance continued to increase and six months later, the young congregation purchased an existing church facility near 13th Street and Ridge Road in Wichita. Then, in the fall of 2013, after years of planning to build a church on 40 acres in west Wichita, the church instead chose to purchase a larger, established church facility on a ten-acre campus. Today, weekly attendance in two services averages 450 attendees.
