Student Pastor

The Remote Student Pastor provides spiritual leadership, discipleship, and pastoral care for middle school and high school students through digital platforms and periodic in-person gatherings (if applicable). This role focuses on building relationships with students and families, leading online ministry environments, and equipping student leaders while aligning with the church’s overall vision and mission.

Key Responsibilities

Student Discipleship & Pastoral Care

• Shepherd and disciple middle and high school students through online gatherings, small groups, and mentoring.
• Provide pastoral care and spiritual guidance to students and their families.
• Encourage spiritual growth through prayer, teaching, and biblical counseling.

Digital Ministry Leadership

• Plan and lead engaging online student services, Bible studies, and small groups.
• Utilize digital platforms (Zoom, Discord, livestreams, social media, etc.) to build community.
• Develop online discipleship pathways for students.

Volunteer Leadership

• Recruit, train, and equip volunteer student leaders and small group leaders.
• Lead regular online meetings for volunteer development and encouragement.
• Create leadership opportunities for student leaders.

Teaching & Curriculum

• Prepare and deliver biblically grounded teaching relevant to student culture.
• Develop or implement curriculum for small groups and discipleship.
• Ensure content aligns with the church’s theology and mission.

Parent Partnership

• Communicate regularly with parents about ministry updates, events, and student progress.
• Provide resources that help parents disciple their students at home.

Events & Outreach

• Coordinate virtual events, retreats, and outreach initiatives.
• Encourage students to invite friends and build a welcoming environment for new students.
• Support occasional in-person gatherings or camps when possible.

Administration

• Track attendance, engagement, and follow-up with students.
• Manage digital tools and communication channels for student ministry.
• Collaborate with church leadership and staff on overall ministry goals.

Qualifications

• Strong and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Alignment with the church’s statement of faith and values.
• Experience in student ministry or youth leadership.
• Ability to connect relationally with middle and high school students online.
• Strong communication, teaching, and leadership skills.
• Familiarity with digital ministry tools and online community platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in ministry, theology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience leading online communities or digital ministry environments.
• Ability to create engaging content for students on social media.
