Director of Student Ministries
The Director of Student Ministries oversees and is responsible for the discipleship programs that lead to the spiritual development of students in the 7-12th grades at FPCE. The Director will use his/her God given abilities in service to the body of First Presbyterian Church and the Edmond community in accordance with God’s will.
Accountability:
The Director of Student Ministries is under the supervision of the Director of Emerging Generations. The Director will work alongside his/her supervisor, staff members, and committee leaders on behalf of the congregation. The Director of Student Ministries is subject to the review of the Session through his/her supervisor, the Executive Pastor, and the Personnel Committee.
Description/Responsibilities:
- Personally, be growing in relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Demonstrate spiritual maturity that will guide students through their own life circumstances.
- Cultivate a culture of discipleship utilizing the 7 Core Practices of FPCE.
- Encourage students and families to engage in the Student Ministry programs.
- Teach students the truth of Scripture, helping them grow in their relationship with Jesus or enter a relationship with Jesus for the first time.
- Build and sustain adult leadership teams that will further the reach of the FPCE Student Ministry.
- Partner with families in strategic ways that encourages them to participate in faith conversations with their students.
- Seek missional opportunities for students and the student ministry teams to live out the FPCE vision and mission.
- Manage the student ministry budget to its best advantage for growth and discipleship.
- Seek training and educational opportunities related to Student Ministry and personal development.
- Utilizing the resources of FPCE and creatively thinking outside the box, further grow and expand the reach of the student ministry into the Edmond community
- Be a team player that lives into and helps promote staff culture.
- Work with the FPCE staff to identify adaptive changes that will help FPCE continue to thrive now and in the future.
- Attend and participate in FPCE staff meetings, retreats, and special events.
- Attend meetings of Session and Vision Team when necessary
Qualifications:
- Be a committed follower of Jesus Christ and seek to serve His kingdom.
- Must be a servant and team player, seeking the overall good of FPCE.
- Demonstrated life of leading students to follow Jesus Christ and grow in their faith.
- Proven experience in church leadership or volunteer work developing and growing student ministry programs.
- College degree in related field or equivalent three to five years ministry experience
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated strategic thinking
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidentiality matters
- Available to work Sunday mornings and Wednesday evening, in addition to occasional evening committee
