Job Description

The Children’s Director shall be responsible for the planning, implementation, and overseeing of all children’s activities for ages birth through 5th grade. This includes Sunday programs, Wednesday programs, and support for all other ministries. 

Organizational Relationship: 

The Children’s Director shall report directly to the Executive Pastor. 

Hours:

The Children’s Director shall be expected to work Sunday- Thursday and events as needed. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

-Children’s Worship

-Children’s Church- includes all 3 services (W@W, 9:00, 10:15) 

-recruit and schedule volunteers

-develop lesson plans (3 total- W@W, 9/10:15, Preschool) -weekly emails with volunteer leaders

-set up media for lesson 

-Wednesday Night Programming (Woodlawn Kids)

-recruit and schedule volunteers

-develop lesson plans (4 total- PreK, whole group, K-2,3-5) -set-up media and check-ins for nursery

-set-up media for K-5 

-Oversee Nursery- Sundays

-recruiting, interviewing, hiring, scheduling of nursery workers

-training

-employee meetings

-all curriculum needs

-set up nursery and preschool classrooms (lessons, activities, check-in, media) -payroll 

-Family Ministry Lead

-Develop community events (i.e. Family Easter Experience, Trunk or Treat, and Family Christmas Experience) 

-plan curriculum or event experiences

-recruit volunteers

-volunteer meetings and training

-supervise teams and overall execution of event 

-Develop family events for WK & WY -Vacation Bible School 

-Plan event dates and reserve rooms -recruit and train volunteers

-Host planning meetings

-Plan curriculum and develop stations -Create sign-up

-Create advertisements (schools, FB, emails) 

-Childcare for church wide events as requested. -Celebrate Recovery 

-Sunday School

-small group meetings @ church -special events 

-Community Outreach

-volunteer opportunities within elementary schools 

-Participation on various church leadership teams: -SLI 

-Church Council -Core Team -CDC Board 

Necessary Qualifications: 

-Christian with a heart to share the gospel and a calling to minister to children and families. -At least 2 years of experience in Children’s Ministry, teaching or like area.

-Outgoing

-Confident 

-Ability to work inside a budget

-Flexible

-Team player

-Enthusiastic about children and ministry. 

Education Requirement: 

-Degree in Education, Seminary Degree, or Degree in relevant area.

Woodlawn Church is located a few blocks north of the Gulf of Mexico. We have been around for over 60 years but recently changed our affiliation from United Methodist to non-denomination/independent. We are a new church with a proven reputation in the community. We have 3 unique worship experiences held in 3 separate venues. Woodlawn is known as a giving and loving congregation.
