Director of Spiritual Care
Reports to: Executive Director
Full-Time Exempt
Job Summary: The Director of Spiritual Care models, leads, directs and implements key initiatives related to compassionate care for the Venice Presbyterian Church community. This person is responsible for all aspects of caring for the congregation including visitation, formation of support groups, and well-being of the congregation. This person must be a devout Christian willing to show the love of Christ to all. with whom they come in contact. The Director of Spiritual Care will be an integral member of the VPC community, actively participating in the life of the church, and knowing the congregation on a trust-building level.
Essential Functions:
- Organize and administrate congregational care per the needs of the congregation including all ages.
- Keep all care records up to date and regularly disseminate care plans and communicate care needs to the Pastoral Team.
- Communicate with Pastoral Team and Staff on critical care issues
- Responsible for on-call emergencies
- Responsible for visitation to hospitals, nursing homes, and in-home visits
- Manage and Direct the Stephen Ministry
- Manage and Direct the Shepherd Ministry
- Manage and Direct the Grief Share Program
- Minister to grieving families, and lead funeral services as requested
- Implement initiatives for care that would enhance the spiritual growth of the congregation – such as prayer meetings, and Christ-centered support groups/recovery ministries.
- Take part in worship as requested
- Participate in all staff functions as requested including Staff Meetings
- Lead weddings as requested, providing premarital counseling
