Job Description

The Teaching/Student pastor will provide vision and leadership for ministry to middle school and high school students, Sunday serving teams, series planning and writing, and Sunday teachings as needed. This person is to uphold themselves to a high standard of both spiritual and leadership excellence and to ensure that the spiritually authentic atmosphere of the Jefferson First Baptist DNA is maintained across all services and events. As a pastor, this person’s role, as a part of the team, is to encourage, challenge and help others grow spiritually. This person must be highly organized and recruit and develop large teams of volunteers to develop a world-class student ministry experience. The student pastor should have the ability to build a ministry where students, parents and volunteers grow in faith and connect relationally.


Jefferson First Baptist is in a season of tremendous growth in one of the fastest growing counties (Jackson) and cities (Jefferson) in Georgia. Jefferson is the county seat of Jackson County with arguably the best City Schools (Jefferson City Schools) in the state. To help reach the younger families that are moving to Jackson County, FBC Jefferson recently hired their new Senior Pastor, Sean Myers, to bring a fresh vision, mission, and branding to the church. With the transition of the Senior Pastor, FBC Jefferson is in the process of hiring a new staff that God would call to the next season of ministry under the leadership of Pastor Sean Myers. 


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide leadership and vision over our student ministries and be the primary teacher.
  • Recruiting, training, scheduling, and maintaining adult volunteers to serve and provide relational discipleship with students. ·      Instilling a standard of excellence and a spiritual intensity in the student ministry.
  • Planning of student ministry elements for weekly services and other events as needed.
  • Being available for pastoral ministry as needed.
  • Assisting the Senior Pastor in creating a healthy church environment in accordance with the values and mission of Jefferson First Baptist.
  • Assisting the Senior Pastor in sermon series writing.
  • Assisting the Senior Pastor in recruiting, training, and scheduling Sunday serving teams.
  • Carrying leadership intensity and pastoral authority within the church.
  • Teach 12 – 15 Sundays a year at the Senior Pastor’s discretion/need.


Spiritual Criteria:

  • Professes Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
  • Commitment to personal spiritual growth in accordance with 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
  • Models standards and expectations of leaders within Jefferson First Baptist.
  • Must attend Jefferson First Baptist.


Experience:

  • 2 years experience preaching weekly.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry Required.
  • Theology in accordance with Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
  • Highly called and gifted teacher of the Word of God.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a growing ministry.
  • Strong creative ideation and leadership development.
  • Ability to carry Pastoral responsibilities.
