Purpose: The Part Time Youth Ministry Director/Intern plans and executes a relational youth ministry while blessing the whole church family with new insight, ideas, and relationships.
Reports to: Pearland Campus Minister (and works closely with English Ministry Coordinator)
Hours: Part-time position up to 20 hours per week
Responsibilities
- Friday Fellowship
- Work with English Ministry Coordinator and HCC pastoral staff to develop the curriculum
- Lead weekly Friday fellowship (Bible study, devotion, discussion, games)
- Sunday School
- Work with English Ministry Coordinator and HCC pastoral staff to select Sunday school’s material
- Coordinate with adult volunteers to teach Sunday school.
- Sunday Service
- Plan and lead Sunday Service, schedule speakers as needed.
- Others
- Attend and support all church-related youth events as well as other church activities as needed, for example outreach, Chinese New Year, Easter and Christmas celebrations.
- Establish and enhance relationship with youth and the parents.
- Regularly interaction with youth during the week.
- Plan and facilitate a quarterly social event for the youth.
- Plan and facilitate a yearly youth retreat.
Organizational Relationships
Accountability
The Part Time Youth Ministry Director/Intern is directly accountable to the Church Minister/Pastor. This accountability is maintained through personal contact and through regular meetings.
Qualifications
- Must be actively walking in a faithful, obedient relationship with Jesus Christ
- Must demonstrate a commitment to and agree with the statement of faith held by Houston Chinese Church, our mother church
- Must have a heart of compassion
- Must have a desire to evangelize, disciple others, and edify the Body of Christ
- Must have a passion and genuine love for youth
- Must have an attitude of versatility, vulnerability, and sensitivity
- Must have completed at least 1 full year of college, preferably 2
- Should have experience ministering to youth or display a desire to learn more about ministering among youth
- A desire to attend seminary is a definite plus
