ROLE DESCRIPTION


Department: Various

Reports to: Lead Pastor

Hours: Full Time (40 hours a week)

Compensation: To be determined.

Contract Term: Indefinite with first 90 day review.

Position Summary:


The vision of Citizens Church is to be a Jesus-centered Family on Mission with Him. We do this primarily through two wings - “Citizens Gathered” and “Citizens Scattered”. Citizens Gathered is all of our Sunday ministries including worship, preaching, and kids. Citizens Scattered is how our church follows Jesus during the week, through Community Groups, member care, discipleship, and local city ministry. 


This position will work in conjunction with the Lead Pastor (who oversees “Citizens Gathered”) to lead forward all of the “scattered” ministries of our church.



This role can be broken down into three primary categories:



Connection

  • Oversee Sunday hospitality team, assimilation process, first time guest follow up, etc.
  • Improve discipleship pipeline from non-Christian/first-time guest to member to CG Leader


Community

  • Oversee ongoing events to help “family-fy” Citizens Church membership
  • Oversee Community Group (CG) placements, leader development, resources and tools, etc.
  • Care for CG leaders in conjunction with the Women’s Discipleship Deacon
  • Facilitate ongoing care needs in conjunction with the Board of Elders


City

  • Oversee ‘Serve Charlotte’ ministries in conjunction with the Serve Charlotte Deacon
  • Oversee future church planting, multi-congregation, and intl missions initiatives in conjunction with Lead Pastor



Other Responsibilities:

  • Preach 3-4 times per year as assigned (if desired and needed for qualified male candidates).
  • Teach classes (membership, training, Saturday seminars, studies, etc) as assigned.
  • Participate in Teaching Team with a lens towards CG application/discussion.
  • Develop and Maintain an ongoing budget for designated ministries.
  • Lead a team of volunteers to execute various events throughout the year (church-wide retreat, cookouts, local outreach, etc).
  • Elder Candidacy to be discussed as the role progresses for qualified male candidates.

In order to lead effectively at Citizens Church, the Director of Groups and Assimilation must have the following competencies and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Masters degree from an accredited seminary preferred.
  • 3+ years ministry experience, particularly with leading and developing teams and leaders.
  • Passionate about the work of ministry in the city of Charlotte.
  • Aligned with the Vision and Mission of Citizens Church.
  • High-energy and professionalism.

About Citizens Church Charlotte

Citizens Church is a new church plant which formed on the eastside of Charlotte, NC in the summer of 2020. We gather together on Sundays for worship, and then scatter into our city through Community Groups on a weekly basis.


We view ourselves as part of the Reformed, baptist tradition, and affirm the historic tenets of the Christian faith as outlined in the Apostles Creed and Nicene Creed. We also affirm the Gospel Coalition Doctrinal Statement. We are a part of the Harbor Network, Grassroots Network, and NC Baptist State Convention.
