Position Summary: To serve the church by developing, coordinating and administrating a comprehensive Middle School Youth Ministry by providing leadership and vision to middle school students and volunteers.
Areas of Responsibility for Middle School Director
• Develop and facilitate a disciple-making ministry to middle school students (6-8 grade) including outreach, discipleship, ministry training and leadership development.
• Reaching the un-churched middle school community and design venues for in-reach/outreach interaction.
• Provide and/or develop a comprehensive, biblically based curriculum designed to address spiritual, emotional and social needs of middle schoolers.
• Recruit, train and motivate adult volunteers for leadership with students.
• Shepherd a middle school student leadership team in order to further nurture faith development and leadership capacities in the youth ministry/church.
• Strictly follow our First Friends Child/Youth Prevention Policy and Procedures Manuel.
• Regularly and systematically communicate program plans and details with parents.
• Plan specific events outside of regular programming such as retreats, camps, service and mission trips.
• Recruit and mentor college interns.
• Serve in the Sports Ministry an average 8 hours a week. This can include mentoring, directing and/or administrating leagues, devotionals and coaching.
• Develop and supervise the middle school youth budget in cooperation with the Executive Pastor.
• Coordinate the middle school program and events with the master church calendar, including scheduling appropriate rooms and gym.
• Coordinate fundraising as needed to enable students to participate in missions and events.
• Cooperate with all First Friends staff members and attend staff meetings and retreats.
• Assist in the Sunday Worship Services as requested. (preach, announcements, offerings)
• Design and maintain/manage a Student Ministries webpage.
• Pursue Recording (ordination) with Evangelical Friends Church-Eastern Region.
Networking and Development
• Actively network locally with other youth pastors.
• Participate in outside speaking engagements and conferences as time allows.
• Support EFC-ER youth programming when possible. (Evangelical Friends Church-Eastern Region)
• Establish relationships with local school districts. (Plain and North Canton)
Personal/Spiritual Qualifications
· Affirm and live out a strong, personal commitment of love to Jesus Christ and His church – specifically the congregation at CFFC.
· Demonstrate integrity in, purity of, and commitment to the Christian lifestyle (I Tim. 3:2-4,7).
· Pursue ongoing spiritual development and discipleship with an unswerving commitment to personal integrity and moral purity.
· Understand and affirm that their position at CFFC is a calling from God.
· Affirm and live out commitments to the ultimate authority of Scripture, Evangelical theology, and the statements of faith of CFFC and the EFC-ER.
Qualifications
· Bachelors degree
· Must be a Christian
· Clean driving record
· Clean background check
· Work evenings and week ends
· Member of First Friends (or become)
· Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
· 4 years of youth ministry experience
