Full Time, Salary DOE


I. MAJOR PURPOSE:

Support Pastor of Next Generation Ministry to create a comprehensive and dynamic Student Ministry that attracts and equips students and families to grow in faith, lead, and serve in Christ’s kingdom.


II. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Support the Pastor of Next Generation Ministry in the execution of the vision and measurable goals for Student Ministry.

B. Work in coordination with Pastor of Next Generation Ministry to connect with and nurture discipleship in students.

C. Work in coordination with Pastor of Next Generation Ministry to recruit and train volunteers.


III. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Support the Pastor of Next Generation Ministry in planning, leading, teaching, coordinating Sunday

morning gatherings, midweek meetings and other student ministry events/opportunities for Junior High, High School, and college students.

B. Help implement and lead summer experiences (camps, mission trips, and other discipleship opportunities) for Junior High, High School, and College Students.

C. Work in coordination with the Pastor of Next Generation Ministry to recruit, train, and support volunteer leaders for Junior High, High School, and College Groups.

D. Help the Pastor of Next Generation Ministry communicate with students, parents, and the greater church community including executing quarterly physical mailings, weekly mass emails (Mailchimp), graphic design (Canva), regular Remind texts, and related communication needs.

E. Meet regularly with students engaging in contact work, discipleship, and mentoring.

F. Spearhead implementing an online social media presence for VPC Student Ministry through online tools with the goal of outreach and discipleship (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.)

G. Help develop and lead the Youth New Members Class for high school students.

H. Ensure all VPC youth ministry supplies and spaces are organized and welcoming.

I. Ensure the safety of all students and volunteers.


IV. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

A. Reports directly to the Pastor of Next Generation Ministry.

B. Works cooperatively with all members of the VPC staff, VPC members, ministry partners, Student Ministry V.A.S.T. (Vision & Support Team), and volunteer leaders.

C. Maintains a high level of commitment to the families of students and works collaboratively with Director of Family Ministry, recognizing that youth ministry is best seen as partnering with parents.


V. QUALIFICATIONS:

A. A passionate, committed Christian with leadership experience and a heart for middle, high school, and college students.

B. Has the spiritual gifts of teaching and leadership and is highly organized.

C. Experience developing age appropriate curriculum that attracts and nurtures students into the fellowship and mission of the church.

D. Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and various administrative tasks.

E. A high level of fluency with written and oral communication, with an emphasis on social media engagement and aesthetic design.

F. Ability to work effectively in a team environment with staff, volunteer leaders and teachers, parents, families and students.
