Matlock Baptist Church is in a closeknit rural community where faith and family run deep with a strong tradition of fellowship and service. We are a loving, mission-minded congregation seeking a fulltime senior pastor who is being led by God to shepherd and minister to our congregation and community, who is faithful and biblically grounded, and will preach the infallible Word of God without compromise or apology. Affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, we are committed to the truth of God’s Word, the Great Commission and ministering to people of all ages. Our active membership is approximately 250-300 people. We have ongoing missions supporting numerous international and community outreach projects.

Position Summary:

The Senior Pastor will serve as the spiritual and organizational leader of the church, responsible for preaching, teaching, pastoral care and guiding the church in its mission and ministries. We are looking for a pastor who will lead with humility, relate well to people in all walks of life, and faithfully proclaim the Gospel in both word and action. 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Prepare and deliver weekly Bible-based sermons including Wednesday night prayer meetings.
• Provide spiritual leadership, discipleship, and encouragement to the congregation.
• Visit and minister to members, including homebound people, hospitalized, and those in need.
• Oversee the administration of the ordinances (baptism and the Lord’s Supper).
• Work alongside deacons and committees in planning and decision-making with congregational support in all attributes of the church.
• To oversee the administration and management of all areas of the congregation’s ministry in consultation with Deacons, teams and staff.
• Officiate weddings, funerals, and other pastoral duties.
• Represent the church within the local community and associational meetings.

Qualifications: 

• A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a life that reflects spiritual maturity.
• A definite call to pastoral ministry.
• Ordained (or willing to be ordained) as a Southern Baptist minister with a minimal of 3 years of Senior Pastoral experience.
• Preferred seminary education from an SBC- affiliated institution.
• Affirmation of the Baptist Faith and Message (2000).
• Strong relational skills and a heart for shepherding people of all ages.
