The principle function of the Youth and Young Adult Pastor is to bring young people to Christ and facilitate their emotional, social and spiritual development in becoming committed disciples of Jesus Christ. The Youth and Young Adult Pastor will accomplish this goal by assisting the church in planning, directing and evaluating a comprehensive youth program for Colonial ;middle school and senior high school youth; as well as a comprehensive program for Young Adults age 18 -40.
Work with the Pastoral Staff by providing spiritual leadership and vision to the youth and young adult. Work closely with the Senior Pastor in providing counseling service for the youth and young adults. Serve as a team member in pastoral counseling efforts, by making himself available as needed.
Colonial Baptist Church, affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, is predominantly an African American church in Randallstown – a suburb of Baltimore City with a population of 35,000. The community is predominantly African American with growing Hispanic, Jamaican, African and South East Asian populations. There are other large neighboring suburbs and several colleges/universities in the metropolitan area. The church, currently is its 76th year, has seen periods of rapid growth, but now has plateaued at 250 families. Most of our congregation are Baby Boomers or older, but we have a great desire to see revival in the next generations, that young people would find their identity and worth in Jesus Christ. We see this commitment to reaching young people as essential for growing our church.
