Job Description

Horizons International's Marketing Content Specialist will be responsible for adapting existing ministry data, testimonials, and information into attractive donor-facing communications content. In this role, you will develop cross-channel promotional campaigns that will help existing and potential partners to understand Horizons’ range of partnership opportunities, including but not limited to training courses, mission trips, conferences, project funding, and volunteering.

This role requires digital marketing proficiency, as it will include website content management, social media posting, blogging, creating and executing promotional email campaigns, administrating webinars for partners, and possibly some design work. Duties will also include collaborating with communications team members to design and develop physical collateral, including brochures, flyers, newsletters, and fundraising pieces.

The Marketing Content Specialist will be primarily responsible for the development and execution of digital marketing, so familiarity with modern marketing tools is crucial. However, the MCS is not alone. You will report directly to the Communications Manager, and interact closely with team members responsible for information gathering, content oversight, web development, fundraising, and organizational leadership.

Primary Duties

  • Develop communications campaigns and strategies within Horizons’ marketing mix to effectively promote a variety of partnership opportunities and events
  • Maintain and improve Horizons’ brand and sub-brand websites through content management, SEO, and basic UX implementation
  • Share on-brand content with our social media audience through consistently engaging posts on Facebook and Instagram, and maintain the posting schedule
  • Craft and execute compelling email campaigns
  • Promote, organize, and host quarterly online webinars with donors
  • Gain an understanding of Horizons’ different offerings to existing and potential partners, to develop effective digital funnels
  • Work with the Communications Team to develop physical collateral, such as newsletters, brochures, postcards, newsletters
  • Track and analyze digital marketing performance metrics, to improve and optimize marketing effectiveness

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a marketing or communications role
  • Proficiency in writing and proofreading. Candidates must have a strong eye for detail and design
  • Comfort with learning new digital technologies and implementing digital solutions
  • Experience in working with Facebook and Instagram, website building platforms, and email software
  • Basic understanding of digital and marketing metrics, and how to use them to optimize strategy
  • Organizational/task management skills to navigate multiple ongoing projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team-oriented attitude


  • Collegiate degree in Marketing, English, Journalism, or related field.
  • Fluency with project management software, such as Asana, Hubspot, Basecamp, etc
  • Design (Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign) experience a plus
  • Basic video editing experience a plus
  • Preference will be given to candidates near Boulder, CO, Grand Rapids,MI or Detroit, MI — but full-time remote work is an option for the right candidate.
